October 2017 Wrap Up

Odds and Ends from October 2017.
I love snuggling my kids!
Nels accepted the position in Chicago with International Paper.  So Nels and I went to the Chicago area to look for houses one week in October.  Nels's parents came and watched all four kids.  They did a great job and made many memories together.  Nels's mom Donna kept me in the loop and that helped me being away from the kids.

We thought it was so cute that Donna and Kira matched pants! :)
We picked up Nels's parents on Monday.  Nels and I left on Tuesday.  We had a big lunch in the airport and then didn't get to eat again until midnight.  It was a long traveling day.  I got to watch Wonder Woman on the airplane though so that was fun.
On Wednesday we looked at houses most of the day and got to know the area better.  We zeroed in on the Geneva area.  House hunting is fun and stressful.  I enjoyed the time with Nels and we ate some yummy food while we were there.  Like this Oberweis ice cream sundae.
We played some chess while we were there too.
One thing that's difficult for us when looking for a house is we have to find one that can be allergy free.  We learned that the one house I loved had cats.  Nels is the most allergic to cats.  So we passed on that house.  We did end up putting an offer on a cute little yellow house.  But the sellers were stubborn and wouldn't budge on the price.  According to our realtors research the house was priced almost $20,000 too high.  So we passed on that house too.  We ended up not finding our home the week we both went out.  But we looked online the next week and fell in love with a blue house that only had a dog.  So Nels flew out again to look at it.  And that's the house we purchased!  We ended up replacing all of the carpet and refinishing the wood floors and stairs and getting the air ducts cleaned.   After doing all of that, the house is allergy free and ready for Nels. :)  I love our house.  It's 2800 sq ft and five bedrooms with an unfinished basement.  We have plenty of space.  Yay!
While we were gone Isak and Nels's Dad built this cannon blaster out of recycling materials.  They had a lot of fun doing that project!
They also went to Los Gatos Park and McDonald's afterwards.  I guess the babies were so hungry they each ate a hamburger!  Bob and Donna were shocked!  haha.
Other activities they did with the kids included:
Making halloween sugar cookies
They made a diorama out of a shoe box and the nature items they found at Diana Park.
Fish out of paper plates and made a fishing rod.
Donna took Isak and Kira to school night at the library.
They had a lot of fun together.  When we got home Isak said happily, "I didn't miss you mom, I had fun!"  :)

Nels's birthday was the Sunday after we got home.  The kids wrapped up pictures they colored and Isak was so sweet and "gave" him his cannon blaster.

"It's dad's Birthday??"  Noah...
We put some candles on a chocolate cake, sang and enjoyed the cake.

October was a very stressful month.  House hunting and preparing to move...and raising four kiddos.

We did have some fun moments though.
One evening we went to the park.  I just about died when Sofie got up by Kira and just looked at her like Kira was the best sister ever.

Sofie just wants to be like Kira sometimes. :)
And Noah enjoyed the park too.
Sofie is always figuring things out.  She put this chair here so she could reach this countertop.
A healthy meal we tried.  I actually didn't like the kale...pretty bitter.  Maybe I didn't cook the kale right?
I put these four year olds to work. heehee.  They loved it.
School pictures.  :)

One Sunday I took pictures of the kids.  Sofie and Noah love this little sandbox.
Showing their projects.
They are just growing up...just a few weeks shy of being 5!

Isak wears his CTR ring sometimes.
Noah...look at that bruise on his head.  poor kid.
Sofie girl.

Sisters.
Best one with all four.  The babies were coming up to me.  They wanted to see my camera up close. :)
So wrap up for October...we purchased the blue house even though I had never walked through it.  Thank goodness for technology to FaceTime and have pictures.  We had a trip to Chicago...Nels went twice.  And then we thoroughly enjoyed Halloween.  And of course we tried to celebrate Nels's birthday all month long.  :)

Happy Halloween 2017!

Halloween!  A little before halloween I bought the babies their own buckets.  Oh how they love them.  They walked around with them for days.  So cute!

The buckets are almost as big as them! haha.

We also tried on their costumes.  Sofie loved hers!
And Noah wondered what he did to deserve this...haha. so cute still.
So here's my two little monsters.  :)
I had Isak and Kira try their costumes on too.  The babies just went and stood by them all on their own.  They know the drill...haha.
We went to the ward trunk or treat.  We ate yummy hot dogs and chili and cornbread.  I even made a chili!

Sofie wondered what was going on.  Lots to see.
Here's our crew.
I love Kira and Isak's big cheesy grins.
Nervous Noah...
After we ate I took the older kids around to get the candy and Nels stayed with the babies and passed out candy.  It was a fun night.

On Halloween Day...I went to the school and watched the kids walk in the Halloween school parade.  So cute!  Afterwards I got to see them in their classroom for a minute.  Here's Kira sitting on the rug.
And eating her cupcake.
Our kids are on the last two tables.
On our way to the car we saw this yellow fire hydrant, so we had to get a pic!
Then Kira wanted a pic.  Isak was sad...not sure why.
Pumpkin drawing.
I made peanut butter sandwich spiders.  The kids loved them! And so easy for me to do.
Kira used the sticker leftovers and colored them in.
After dinner we walked around our little neighborhood and trick or treated.  This is the best before picture I could get.
It's a fun time of year and I'm glad we could have a good time!
