Vero Beach - Part 4

Our last day we decided to rent some bikes.  I am so glad we did because it was fun to do something different.  We each had a bucket seat on our bikes so it worked out great.
We biked the 7 mile loop called Jungle Trail.  The road was sandy most of the time and went along a little lake.
The helmets for the kids kept sliding forward and covering their eyes.  They ended up falling asleep for part of the ride.
Pretty views along the way.
Me and Kira.
There was a home that had a hammock set up in their front yard.  It looked very picturesque.
This is what the trail looked like most of the time.
Afterwards we went to the pool and beach.  Little Isak just loved carrying the bucket around.  Isn't he just a cutie?!
Walking to the beach and pool.
And Dad is leading the way.
Kira and I went to the beach for a while.
I just did a little photo shoot with her.  I painted her toenails blue like mine.  So I tried to get a picture of our toes.
Here's my artistic shot.
She approves each grain of sand after careful inspection.
Just a cutie!  And she actually kept her hat on!
Me and Donna.
Our toes.
Captured this pic when Nels and I were alone for a few minutes.
One of the days Britta cut Kira's hair.  We gave her a dum dum and put on a show for her to watch.  She was really good, but check out her staring Britta down!  haha.  Britta did an awesome job.  Thank you Britta!
One afternoon, before my nap, I read for a few minutes while Nels rested.
This was my view.  Palm trees and ...
 The ocean.  Loved it!
We fixed every meal at the cottage except for two.  I was pretty excited to eat out.  We went to a place called Nino's Cafe Pizzeria.  Along the way we saw this cute sea turtle.
Anna-Lisa looking so cute and sorry Michael, but what are you doing?? :)

Here's the pizza...
And all of us, except the babies were by Nels and didn't make it in the picture.
Far Far held Isak up to look through the window and watch the people make the pizzas.  He was fascinated by it.  I think it's cute how Far Mor is taking a picture too.
Don't be fooled...Kira isn't really taking a bite of pizza.  For some reason she doesn't like pizza.  Sad. But I think it's a funny picture.
The little cafe.
Selfie with Anna-Lisa.
Before the last of the pictures...here's a few random things.
I hate no-see-um bugs.  They are like mosquitoes but you can't see them.  My legs got bit up.  I counted 30 bites on just one leg!  And they itched like crazy.

It is a lot more humid in Florida than in North Carolina.  The air is just thick down there.  I got used to it by the end of the week, but Nels and I decided we won't be retiring in Florida.

We played games together and that was one of my favorite parts.  We played Cashflow, Wits and Wagers, Telestrations and Settlers of Catan.  I won Settlers...yay!

Nels's favorite things included taking the kids to the pool and eating ice cream with the kids.

All week the kids did really well napping and sleeping in the portable cribs.  Unfortunately, Kira woke up our last night at 3 a.m. and would not go back to sleep.  I think she was teething.  So around 5 a.m. we packed up and got ready to leave.  We were out the door by 6:30 a.m. We were so exhausted.  We each drove about 4 -5 hours and made it home.  We stopped some where and ate at a Cracker Barrel.  I love eating their breakfasts for dinner.

The kids concentrated so hard on the peg game. :)
And they enjoyed rocking in the chairs.
They enjoyed the break from being in the car.  I think they were happy to be home and sleep in their own beds.
I am so happy we all got to go to Vero.  It was wonderful to see all of Nels's family and spend time with them.  Of course my favorite part was eating all this Blue Bell Ice Cream.  Between the 11 of us (9 adults, 2 toddlers) we ate 11 cartons!!  Now that's an accomplishment!
Thanks Nels's parents for making this trip happen.

Vero Beach, FL - Part 3

Of course, we didn't spend all of our time at the beach.  The babies spent a lot of time in the cottage too.  One day I took a few pictures of them just playing.  They were wearing their Mickey and Minnie Mouse outfits.
I gave them stuffed Mickey and Minnie Mouses too.
Kira is always pointing at something.  Too cute.
View from our balcony.
Oh yeah, Isak knows he is sooooo cool.
He'll even wear these glasses while he eats ice cream with dad.
Lots more beach pictures coming up...
Me, Isak and Donna relaxing.
Nels flew this kite.
The babies in the sand.
They would pick up seashells and then empty the bucket.  So this is a picture of our feet and the seashells.
Nels running along the beach.  Go Nels!
Babies with their seashells.
My artistic shot. :)
The twins got a lot of attention from their Aunts and Uncles and Far Far and Far Mor.  Below is Kierstin holding Isak and Anna-Lisa holding Kira.  Anna-Lisa's baby is due in September.  Can't wait to meet her!  Kierstin is due in February.   Our family is growing!!  Yay!
The kite high in the sky.
Me and Nels flying the kite.  This is actually the only picture of me and Nels together at the beach...besides the professional photographs.  I guess I was too busy taking pics of the twins.  Oh well, at least we have one.
Nels trying to get Kira to hold the handle to the kite.
And Isak flying the kite.

Look at that little girl.
Snack break.
They were so snuggly for two minutes.
Besides the beach, the twins loved the playground.
They showed off their climbing skills to everyone.
And Kira was fearless going down the big slide by herself.
She was so proud of herself and would clap her hands and make sure people were watching her.  So funny.
Most evenings after dinner we would take walks along the beach before putting the kids to bed.

Trying to get a good photo of me and Kira.
Smiling and pointing.
Far Far always had one of the kids with him.  I love these pictures of him with his grand kids.

It's kind of hard to write in the sand...Isak & Kira 7/14
See Far Far, Kira and Isak.

Love this picture.
Isak decided he likes to run...
Big smile.  I love how he just loves what he is doing.

Such a boy...glad he's mine.
Kira was not to be out done by her brother.  She kept up with him pretty well.
My blue toenails and Kira's sandaled feet.
Here's the crew.   We were just missing Tom (Kierstin's husband).
We tried to get Isak more in the picture.  But he just wanted to run.  That's okay, I think it is cute how everyone is just watching him.
Kira and her daddy.  Lately, she calls him "Dy Da"  so cute.
Isak is ready for bedtime.
And Kira and Dad doing the same expression.  haha.
Walks were so fun and enjoyable and less messy too!
