August Wrap Up

Back to normal life.  haha.  Here's our random everyday life pictures from August.

I actually made cookies one day.  Chocolate chip, with whole wheat flour and applesauce.  The kids loved them.  They also happened to be wearing their valentine shirts.  ðŸ’•
Fort building happens a lot around here.  Isak and Kira will drag the chairs from the dining room and set them up in the living room.  Then the blankets come out and are arranged just right.  Then the toys and then the babies like to get cozy and play with their older siblings too.
One Sunday...

One day I took the kids to the park for a picnic.  I took a ton of videos - about 12 minutes worth of video segments.  Then I made my first iMovie from all of the videos.  It was fun to edit and piece it together.  It ended up being about five minutes long.  Here's two pictures from that day too.  Noah was pretty happy running around and I caught this pic with him sticking his tongue out. haha.
Sofie has no fear.  She does whatever the big kids are doing.
Kira drew and colored this picture.  We call her an artist and now she will refer to herself as the artist.   :)
One Sunday...Nels and I matched!
Sofie running free after church.
Same with Noah.
This picture makes me laugh!  Rapunzel hair and her underpants.  Oh Sofie!!

Noah thought he would try to put this United States puzzle together.  I was impressed.  He sat there for a while and got a couple together!  Then he moved on to other things.
Eating muffins together.  Mickey and Minnie shirts.
Just reading some books together.  I love when the babies and big kids interact.
One Sunday...

Before school started the kids would pretend to play school.  Kira is the teacher right now.  She wrote the whole Alphabet...big and little letters next to each other.  Like this Aa Bb Cc....Isak is the student.
Mmmmm.  I made this delicious fruit salsa and tortillas with cinnamon sugar on it.  Oh so good!  It's my new favorite summer treat!!
Unicorn shoes!
At Costco one day...I think we were waiting for Dad and Noah to bring us our food.
Just playing with blocks on the stairs...Noah got a little tired.  haha.
Noah's shoes.  The one on the left is his old shoe.  The one on the right is his new shoe.
I think we got pretty good use out of the shoes!
And school started!!!  It started August 16th while we were on vacation.  So the kids started their first day August 20th.  It's half day kindergarten here.  They go in the afternoon.  They are soooo cute!
They ride the bus to and from school.
They are learning so much and I love to hear about their day when they get home.
Their kindergarten teacher is amazing!!  One of their favorite things they are learning is sign language.  They love to show me the new words they learned.
Noah fell asleep after church one Sunday.
Another Sunday.  I set the timer on the camera to get this pic.  I thought it was pretty cute.
My niece had her baby blessed.  Yes, I'm a great Aunt!  Aren't they just a cute family.
Kaylie with her daughter Navy.
First project for mom to do for kindergarten.  Book boxes out of cereal boxes and duct tape.
Practicing folding our arms.

Soooo. One morning I made these mini muffins.  I made them so I could give them to my friend that was coming over to go for a walk with us that morning.  I got in the shower and this happened.  Sofie and Noah took bites from every muffin except one.  Grrrr!  It was cute to though because they had lined them all up on the table.  I gave my friend the one muffin that had no bites.
Another fort and Kira showing off her purse with "daddy" horse.
Park day.  Sofie had to have her hat, sunglasses and purse.
She is so busy and mischievous, but she really does bring sunshine to our lives.
Noah loves the park too.
Walking home.
Nels was able to take me to a Cubs game with his work.  They were having a Controller Conference and had an extra ticket.  So they invited me to go along.  It was a fun night.  It rained before and it rained after we left.  We were gone seven hours!  It took two hours just to get to Wrigley Field.  We had a great babysitter.  She got the kids fed and in bed.  Yay!
Oh Sofie...so romantic.  Haha.  She didn't mean to be romantic.  Rather she tore apart a rose.  Curiosity?  Then she showed me the petals by throwing them up in the air and onto the floor.
Here's Sofie pointing to the bus.  Waiting to pick up the big kids from the school bus.

Sofie wants to go to school too.  She loves Kira's backpack.  So I bought her one at Walmart for $2.77. Way cheap.  She was thrilled.  She wears it around the house.  So cute.
And that's the end of August.
A few random things:

  • Kira calls McDonald's "Old MacDonald's"
  • Sofie is giving kisses and it makes me so happy when she gives me kisses.
  • Sofie says "pink", "fish" "S" and "please"
  • Noah is getting better at saying "truck" and "there it is"
  • Isak earned $13 more and got another lego set.  He paid tithing too.  He is good at setting a goal and doing a little everyday to work towards accomplishing it.  I'm so proud of him.
  • I started to learn CSS and HTML.  I really like learning it.
  • We hung up a picture in our house!!
  • We went to Samantha and Mia's baptism.  I gave the talk on the Holy Ghost at their baptism.  Mia is in our primary class.  I'm glad I got to be a part of it.
  • We actually had friends over for a game night.  Yay!
  • We finished The End of the Beginning book with Isak and Kira.  Cute book.
  • I took Kira and Isak on a few bike rides.

It was a pretty big month.
Two funerals
One vacation
School started
Grandma and Grandpa Nyborg came for a great visit.

September has definitely been slower.  I'm thankful for all we did in August.

Door County - Day 3

August 16 - Thursday- It was a rough morning.  I woke up grumpy!  I hate when I have a grumpy day!  I tried to be nice, but it was really hard.  haha.  Thankfully, my mood got better half way through the day.

I took some pictures of the family at the cottage before we headed out for the day.
Sofie ran away...but the rest stayed and look edso cute!
Here's a few pics from inside the cottage.  Breakfast at the table.  The babies loved not having high chairs.  They did pretty well with it.  But when we got home I still put them back in their high chairs.
There's the loft where Isak and Kira are standing.  That's where the three little bedrooms are located.
Here's Isak and Noah's room.  We called it the sailboat room.
Here's Sofie and Kira's room.  We called it the pink room.  Kira was upset for some reason...
These stairs are pretty steep.  Thankfully the kids did great on them and were very careful.  One night I missed the bottom step when I came down to use the bathroom.  Ouch.  See all of those pictures on the wall.  They are fun to look at.  Sofie thought so too...she grabbed one off the wall and dropped it on the floor.  The glass frame shattered.  :(
I thought this was a cool pic.  Nels is the baby...being held by his grandma, then grandpa is on the left and his dad is on the right.
The bottom right pic is Nels feeding a bottle to his baby sister Kierstin.  So cute!
This is his dad and uncle as kids.
So after we finally left for the day, we started our adventures at Newport Bay Beach.  It's beautiful.  But the set up wasn't as nice/convenient as Ellison Bay beach.  So after taking a few pics we went back to Ellison.  Kira and Isak were being super nice to each other and cute.  See they are holding hands!!

Still holding hands. :)
Sofie and Noah...Noah was being Noah. :)
We threw some rocks at Newport too.

And then we played for three hours at Ellison Bay Beach.
Once again three of the four kids loved it and had a blast.
Sofie was soooo adorable.  She had her purple bucket and a shovel.
She would fill up the bucket with water, stir it with the shovel and then pour the water out onto the sand....repeat.
Fill the bucket.
Stir the water.
Dump the water and then fill it up again.  Over and over.  Happy as could be!

Noah...just stayed on my lap for 80% of it.  Nels's lap for 15% and
Watch out!  There's Noah in the sand!  For 5% of the time.  haha.
I took videos of what the older kids did, but I didn't take a pic!  Isak and Kira spent a lot of time digging rivers.  Kira was the digger most of the time.  Isak carried one and sometimes two full buckets of water and dumped them into the "river."  Nels helped dig a bit too.  And I barely helped.   They loved all of the hard work/playing.

This was part of our view.
There were these great climbing trees.  Isak and Kira loved them.

We drove to Wilson's and ate a late lunch...around 3:30 p.m.  Noah was napping so I stayed in the car with him while the rest ate lunch.
Then Nels went to the Ephraim Library to finish the budget...it was due this day.  I ate my hamburger and fries from Wilson's at the park.  Bob and Donna helped me with the kids at the park while Nels worked.  The kids played for an hour and a half.
Nels finished the budget!  Hooray!  To celebrate, we all got ice cream.  I got a blueberry crunch and chocolate.  Isak got strawberry and Kira got vanilla.  Nels got a cherry one.  We shared our ice cream with the babies.
Ice cream cheered everyone up!

Before going back to the cottage we stopped at the beach near the cottage.  It's down the hill with the dead end.  It's a pretty beach with lots of big white rocks.  Isak and Kira threw rocks as the sun set.  We picked out a couple of rocks to take home with us.

Bob and Donna cooked hot dogs and hamburgers for us.  We built a fire in the fire pit and roasted marshmallows.  Not the best pic...but you can see what we were up to.
Sofie and Kira were so tired and asked to go to bed!  So I put them to bed.  Nels put Noah to bed.  Isak stayed up cooking and eating marshmallows.  Isak and Bob told stories around the campfire.  So cute.  Then we went inside.  While cleaning up Isak fell asleep on Grandpa.  The end to a perfect vacation - well, perfectly imperfect vacation. :)  It was fun to have grandma and grandpa with us and the kids just ate up all of the attention.

Aug 17 Friday.  We packed up and left the cottage at 10 a.m.  We only stopped once after 4 hours.  Then we finished up the drive and got home around 4 p.m.   It was good to be home again.  It was a lot of work.  But we definitely had some great moments!  Hopefully the older kids will remember the good times.  I sure loved when we got some smiles from the kids...like this one!
We spent almost the same amount on ice cream as we did food.  Yum!  It was nice to just play with the kids and enjoy them.  Yay for vacations!  I'm glad we got go to Door County, WI.
