January 24- 31, 2026
January 24, Saturday:
The snow started coming down in the late morning and continued to snow most of the day. The kids put their snow clothes on and played in the cold snow for a while. Thankfully, I had purchased two pairs of snow pants at Costco a few months ago and I had ordered some boots from Amazon. So with old and new snow clothes, we had enough for all of the kids to enjoy playing for a while. I'm also glad we played in it right away, because the next day it froze and the snow was crunchy. We were sad that it was not snowman building snow. But the kids still had fun playing in it. Here's the pictures of their time in the snow:
Snow angel.
Oh, and we had got them all new coats earlier in the year too. Yay!
They enjoyed just moving the snow around in buckets and containers.
They built a little fort and asked dad to shovel the inside of it.
Afterwards, hot chocolate!
The rest of the day we spent just relaxing, napping, and I read a lot. I also made a chocolate cake. Nels braved the roads and got us some Domino's pizza. A cozy, snow day.
Sofie did her make up.
Kira did FHE January 18. She asked us to draw our favorite creations. I drew pink roses on the front page. A flamingo and waterfalls pictured below. And on the back of the paper a raspberry. It was fun to draw together and see what creations everyone enjoys. Also, Kira saved my flamingo. It looked terrible and then she helped make it better.
We put together this 500 piece puzzle.
We played a few games of Forbidden Desert.
Another FHE Sofie was in charge of teaching and she had a nice set up:
She did a great job teaching about Adam and Eve and why we need a Savior.
Here's the boys playing Forbidden Desert while us girls...
Watercolored!
We followed a tutorial for a penguin. Here's the beginning of mine.
Here's Sofie's:
Here's mine:
Kira made hers tiny so she could cut it out and use it on something else.
Kira wasn't finished with hers, so that's why she's not in the picture. Here's our finished penguins.
So the kids had no school for the week. Except, Sofie and Noah went back to school on the Friday, January 30, with a 2 hour delay start. What did we do all week? We played a lot of games!! The good news, Nels got to work from home. It was so fun to have everyone at home for a few days.

Here's a few pictures from the snow week:
The World Game was played two times.
The boys played Life.
The girls had the neighbor girls over and they made stickers one afternoon.
I started my new project. A crochet granny square blanket.
I crocheted and watched the boys play Pandemic. I did not get very far on my first square...
Spa time:
I even got one and with snacks! :)
By Thursday, we needed to get out of the house. So we went to Barfield park. It was a frozen winter wonderland.
The trails were closed, so we only walked on them for a few minutes and took pictures.
We weren't there for very long, but I loved seeing this beauty. So I thought it was worth it!
Then we went to the library. Isak already had a book, so he sat and read while the others found books. He's reading Maze Runner. Then we'll watch the movie.
The kids all found some books.
Then we went to Donut Country and got some yummy donuts!
Kira - Boston Cream
Sofie- Old Fashioned donut. She ended up not liking it. So I shared my blueberry filled donut.
Vanilla for Noah.
Raspberry for Isak.
Sofie with my blueberry donut.
Yay! Glad we got out of the house!!
Pretty sky.
Kira practiced her trumpet.
Nels can "check out" guitars at Gibson. So he brought home this pretty red guitar to try out.
Sofie's friend Gia came over and the girls gave her a spa treatment.

January 30 - Friday:
Nels and I competed in a little pickleball tournament. We forgot to take pictures there. So we took them when we got home. We had a lot of fun playing. It was round robin. So a different partner every time and we each played four games.
I ended up getting 2nd place!! I won all four of my games and then it was based on cumulative points won each match. I was two points behind the winner. I was pretty happy!
Nels was sad...haha. He got 25th. There were about 35-40 people that participated.
It was so fun to compete and play in the same tournament.
Here's the scoreboard...
Noah got a keyboard and mouse to connect to his kindle. He likes it.
I'm trying to teach whoever wants to learn, how to sew. We're moving slow...but we did cut out fabric to do a hair scrunchie. That's all we've done though...
I made this flyer with Canva for Nels for the Stake YM.
I put up the Valentine decor and Kira looked pretty in her red dress ready to go to the temple.
Nels took the kids to the temple January 31, Saturday. They had a great time.
And enjoyed eating out at Mooyah afterwards. :)
And that's all for January! The kids did go back to school the following Monday. :) And thankfully, we had plenty of food, and we were warm and safe during the coldest week of winter.
