18 Months!

Our babies turned 18 months on May 11...Mother's Day.  They are officially in the nursery at church. I am also in the nursery helping out.  I love it.  I love seeing my babies play and learn.
So what are these two up to at 18 months old??

Let's start with their measurements from their 18 month appointment.
Isak
Weight: 23 lbs. 8 oz.
Height: 32 3/4 inches
I like grandma's nickname for Isak...little rascal.  Doesn't this face just say that??
Kira kept photo bombing Isak's pictures.  heehee.
Isak is all about expressing himself.  He just started to say a few words:
Hi
Eat
Please (with a big cheesy grin)
No, luckily he doesn't use it correctly yet.
He knows sounds...Car and Dog are his favorite.  He will move his car back and forth going vroom vroom.  Look at those long legs and arms!
His hair is red and his eyes are blue.  I think he is the handsomest little boy in the world.  He also has a cute farmer's tan. :)
Isak loves to climb and pull things out of cupboards and he has been trying to jump.  Isak loves to be chased and just to have our full attention.
Just an angel face here....
Kira's Stats:
Weight: 18 lbs. 8 oz.
Height: 29 1/2 inches.
This first picture cracks me up.  She is secretly mischievous and it comes out in an adorable way.
Kira's big accomplishment is walking!  Yay!  She finally started walking at 17.5 months old.  One day she just took off and walked the whole length of the house.  No more knee walking.  She pulls herself up into a standing position without holding onto anything too.  We are so happy for her!
Kira likes peas and baked beans.  She loves her spoons.  It's rare to see her without at least one spoon.
She blows kisses, plays peekaboo and points to airplanes.  She can be very serious and is good at concentrating.
No words yet.  She does the sign for milk.
She has blondish, brownish, reddish hair??  Depends on the light.  One blue eye, 1/2 a blue and 1/2 green eye.
So Kira is not growing...she has barely gained a pound in 6 months.  So at the last doctor's visit they did some blood tests.  Everything looks good except for one thing.  A phosphorous deficiency.  There's a little more to it, but I had two kids fussing while the doctor explained it to me on the phone.
Tomorrow, June 5th we are going to a specialist for more testing.  It may be that she just needs a multi vitamin.  We hope that is all it is.  For now, we just keep feeding her and praying for her.
So what is it like having 18 month old twins?  Some days these two are best friends and play so well. Other days they can barely stand each other and they will cry if the other one looks at them the wrong way.
They are definitely in the copy cat stage.  If one does something even remotely interesting the other one jumps right in.  As you can see below:
Sleeping: They both take 1 nap ranging from 2-3 hours.  They go to bed around 7:15-30 and lately they have been waking up around 6:30 sometimes earlier and sometimes later.  Early as in 6:15, Later as in 7...if I am lucky. :)
Teeth...they point to body parts now.  Where are your teeth?  Where is your nose?
Their latest trick...Peekaboo.  They cover their eyes, then move their hands away and laugh and laugh.
Our house is always a mess.  Until 7:45 pm.  Then it is clean and quiet.  :)
They are fun and a lot of hard work.  I love when they hug me.  And they are trying to learn how to kiss.  I love to make them laugh.  I love when we just sit with a book and blanket and relax.  They teach me patience, selflessness and to live life in the present.
(I edited this one to make it look antiquey.)
They have changed our lives for the better.  We love you Isak and Kira!

Village Wars

Our subdivision is divided up into villages.  Every year they have village wars.  We thought it would be fun to participate, so we did.  Nels signed up to do the 5K run.  He didn't train or anything...and he hasn't worked out for a long time.  Silly boy, but he did it anyways. :)  He got second place out of all the 37 year olds that competed.  How many 37 year olds were there...Nels didn't tell me. :)
Here he is warming up with the group.
 Before the race.
 There he is running.
Giving us a little wave as he passed us.
And finishing with a time of 30 minutes 30 seconds.
Here he is with his fans. :)
We both played corn hole and won 3rd place.  Then I played volleyball and ping pong.
Nels competed in the pie eating contest.  You know, to balance out the run he did this morning. :)
The guy next to him won.  But Nels gave a valiant effort.
It was a lot of fun to play games and get to know more people.
