April 2023 Moments

Our little moments in April 2023.

It was general conference weekend when we got back from Disney.  I tried to keep up with our traditions.
Cinnamon rolls.  I'm not sure how, but this was my best batch ever!  So moist and yummy.  I could hardly believe that I had made them!
I helped Isak do his Diamond art.  The diamonds had spilled and got mixed up so it was tricky.  But we figured it out together.
We were able to finish it by the last conference session.  Isak definitely did most of it.  I enjoyed helping him a little.
We had conference bingo and yummy cereal for everyone.
There's my cinnamon rolls.
Finished!  We enjoyed relaxing and listening to conference.  I especially loved Pres. Nelson's talk about being a Peacemaker.
Sofie received the highest Dojo Point Earner for her class.  I was so proud of her!
Here's our unicorn girl.  🦄
Sofie learned the word romance.  She was being so funny.  "Mom, take a picture of me being romance."  So here's Kira and Sofie's romance faces.
She was laughing so hard afterwards.   Love this happy girl.
Nels's parents sent this great photo of Nels as a kid.  Isn't that great?
I went on a walk with a friend and it was wonderful.
I practiced a difficult song for me on the guitar for many days, and I finally got a 97 score on it!  When I first played it I got a score in the seventies.  So practice does help!  haha.
Oh, here's a photo of Sofie receiving her award at school.  The teacher sent it to me.
We went to math and STEAM night at Salem.  We learned some new math games.
And saw the kids steam projects.  Kira and Isak built overpass bridges.  Isak's wasn't there, but here's Kira's.
Sofie and Noah made bird feeders that fed different kinds of birds.
Here's Noah's drawing.
Sofie's drawing.
I was proud of all of their hard work and all that they are learning.  Aren't they cute?!
Lunch date!
Nels and I went to Burger Republic and splurged on a Death by Chocolate Shake.  Mmmmm.

The burgers were delicious too.  :)
We walked around the area for a few minutes and enjoyed the sunshine.

I went to the temple one Friday while everyone was at school/work.
Kira was asked to teach origami to her activity day group at church.  She chose to teach them the hearts.
And tulip and a bird.  She made this poster.  The numbers represent the age group.  I'm so proud of her and all she did.
Sofie just looked cute in this flamingo shirt.
I made these M&M brownies for our Girls Night YW activity.  Everyone loved them.  My kids love them too.  The whole pan disappeared quickly.
We did some sidewalk chalk.
I was on my way to the temple on another Friday, when I got a call from the school.  Sofie had thrown up and had a fever.  So I turned around and picked her up from school.  We read and snuggled.
I trimmed our bushes.  I should have done it in the fall, but hopefully the bushes will still be ok.
Nels made waffles for the kids.  Noah felt very loved.
Nels had to travel and missed church.  I took the kids.  We were in Sacrament and Sofie said,
"I don't feel well, I feel like throwing up."  I wondered if she might still be sick from Friday.  So we left.  But I had them take a picture first.  Why?  Sometimes I like to have something to show for my efforts.  And getting four kids ready and to church by myself is a lot of work!  She smiled in this photo...so I said, 'hey, you're sick, remember..."  haha.
So she did her sick face in the next one.  :)
We made our cards from the Paper Pumpkin box my mom sent me.  Cute cards, right?!
While Nels was out of town, Kira lost her tooth.  I was flossing her teeth and part of the tooth came out.  Eventually, we got the rest of her tooth out.  It was a tough one.  I had to write the note for the tooth fairy since Nels was gone.   This was the note that convinced Kira that the tooth fairy wasn't real.  She found other notes from the tooth fairy and showed them to me and how they were different.  So I told her that dad is the tooth fairy.  She was amazed that it was dad and missed him even more.  💛
Here's Isak's class.  He's in the orange shirt on the top row.
My almost 10 year old mac was starting to act up.  So Nels kindly bought me a brand new one.  I spent some time migrating my old mac to my new one.  It's all set up now, and I love it.
Kira helped me make peanut butter cheerio bites.  She loves them, so it's a good one for her to learn how to make.
Everyone was busy doing different projects.  Art, legos and ...
Isak was reading his big science book.
Kira learned how to do this cool origami star.
Noah has a love hate relationship with this robot.  He loves building it and hates when it falls apart.
I did some sidewalk chalk art...Kira drew the unicorn for me.
Nels bought me a pink rose bush.  I love it!
We made it 7 minutes early to Stake Conference.  Lots of hard work...so photo please.  😄
I spent a lot of time in April recovering from Disney and documenting our trip.  I made a photo book, blogged it, journaled it and made a video of it!  I probably over documented it.  I just loved our family trip so much.

We just did normal things this month.  But it was nice. :)

April 2023 Outings

We had a couple of outings in April.
First up:
Free day at the Discovery Center.

They loved watching the turtles.

And playing with the boat.
We made clay pinch pots together.

We all made something different with the same items that we had available.  It's fun to see everyone's creativity.

Sofie and Kira colored pictures.
The boys played with the water.

There was a lot to explore and do.

We did some of the Keva block challenges.

This is what the inside looks like.  The kids love that huge tunnel slide.
We ate a quick lunch at home and then headed to Isak's first soccer game.
While Isak practiced before the game, the rest of the kids played on the playground.
Sofie is getting so strong and good at the monkey bars!
Then we watched Isak's game.  It's a terrible picture but Isak is in it.
Nels is the assistant coach.  So that's fun too!
We got everyone a slushy at Sonic and then Nels got a few things at Costco while the kids drank their slushy.

April 28th Friday - I got to go on a field trip with Sofie and Noah's class.  We went to the Barfield Park Wilderness Station.  I really enjoyed it and learned a lot too.

We listened to this guy tell us about snakes, turtles, owls, birds and more.
Here's an Ostrich egg and next to it is the smallest egg from a hummingbird.
Here's a screech owl.
Sofie and Noah were pretty good and it was fun to watch them learn.
We went on a little hike and they talked to us about plants.
Here's their class...
They got to look at things with a magnifying glass and binoculars.

We ate lunch together.
Then they played and played on the playground.  Fun day with these two.
Another Saturday Soccer game.
Playing while we wait for the game to start.
Sofie made a sign "Go Isak Go!"  :)
Then we went to Barnes and Noble.  Why?  Because I was finally buying Sofie and Noah their reward for finishing the 100 reading lessons.  So they each picked out a book.
We all enjoyed looking around the bookstore and finding new books that we can hopefully check out at the library for free.  I forgot how expensive books are!  But I'm glad we bought them these books.  It was so cute to watch both of them immediately reading their books that they get to keep forever.  😄
After the bookstore, we needed to stop at Kroger and replenish our ice cream supply.  Everyone chose a carton.  So we ended up with six.
And those were our outings for April.
