Door County! July 12 - Al Johnson's and Sunset Trail Bike Ride

July 12, Friday -
We slept in until 9 a.m.  We got ready...Sofie and Noah played Chinese Checkers while eating breakfast.
Then they played outside together.

Kira was running along the hallway between rooms upstairs and somehow got a sliver through her sock and into the heel of her foot!  We found a needle in the cottage.  I tried so hard to get it out.  But we couldn't get it.  Thankfully, she decided she could walk a little with it still in her foot.   So we went to Al Johnson's at 1:30 p.m.
They had a 30 minute wait, so I took the kids across the street to the playground.

Then we walked back to Al Johnson's.
The kids got a coloring sheet of the photo above.  They used my photo to color the picture.
We ordered Swedish pancakes, meatballs, eggs and bacon.  Kira got french toast and Noah got mac and cheese.  Everyone was happy with the meal.

The kids were excited to see how their picture turned out.
Yay!
We played some corn hole...

After Al Johnson's, we went to three stores to find tweezers for Kira's splinter.  We finally bought some that we thought might work.

We arrived at Edge of Park around 4ish and  rented bikes.  Sofie had a ride along bike behind Nels.  Noah had a ride along behind me.   Kira and Isak both had their own bikes.  We biked the Sunset Bike Trail.  Five miles to Nicolette Beach and five miles back.  It's a beautiful trail with water from the bay visible through the trees.  The sun was setting for some of it.  Everyone was pretty happy and we all did well.  Kira did great with her foot.  Yay!  Noah was a lot of fun to be with and we had a great time together.  Here are the pics from the bike ride...
We stopped at the lighthouse for a picture while Nels adjusted Isak's bike.

Nicolette Bay:

I did a little photo shoot. :)

Someone was nice and took our picture.

We played at the playground at Nicolette Bay and then rode the five miles back to the bike rental.  It took us about two hours and 20 minutes or so.

Then we went to Not Licked Yet.  The kids played on the playground while we figured out our order.

Sofie and I shared the Midnight Sundae.  Sadly, they didn't have my El Nino - chocolate custard with raspberries.  But the Midnight Sundae was yummy.
Nels got a cherry something.  Isak got a banana malt and Noah got a brownie.
Kira got a brownie with vanilla custard and caramel sauce on top.

As we drove back to the cottage we stopped near Wilson's and watched the sunset.  We were just in time.  It was beautiful and special that we timed it just right.

Bedtime...
Here's the girls in their pink room.
Here's the boys in their room.
Great day.  I think we made some wonderful memories today.
