Happy Fourth of July!

The Sunday before the Fourth of July, I tried to dress patriotically with Kira.  Every time I wear this dress I remember the next picture...
Taken in July of 2015...three years ago.  Oh Kira's sad face.  haha.
She was a lot happier today and she loves to give me kisses.
Honestly, not much happened.  It was month end for Nels, so he worked from home.  He started early in the morning and finished around eleven a.m.  I worked out and got everyone ready for the day.  We wore our red, white and blues.  I asked them to take a few pictures...haha. Some are pretty cute.

They look so grown up at age five.

This is the best one of Sofie and Noah!  It's a cute one, I think.
Captured Kira being sweet and giving Noah a kiss on the head.

Father and son.
Mother and daughter.
We ate some lunch, organized the garage and took naps.  Then we drove to Red Robin for some dinner.  On the way there, Nels was the DJ and played America songs.  It was so fun to belt out some of our favorite songs.  "I'm Proud to be an American!  Where at least I know I'm free..."

Red Robin was under staffed and SO slow.  It took forever to get our food.  Here's us waiting...
Once the food came, it was delicious and we enjoyed it.  Noah loved the mac n cheese.  We splurged and finished up the meal with Mississippi Mud Pie.  Of course, the fun continued at home with all four kids playing with the four Red Robin balloons.  :)  Off to bed.  No fireworks, but we learned later the firework shows were cancelled due to weather.  So I'm glad we didn't try to go!

And that was our day---Happy Fourth of July!

June 2018 Wrap Up

June was a busy, fun month.  I can't believe how much we did.  I enjoyed it.  July has definitely been slower in comparison to June.  But let's wrap up June 2018!

Our friends from church invited us to go swimming in their pool.  It was the babies first time in a pool and Isak and Kira hadn't been for two years either!  So it felt pretty new for all of the kids.
Thank goodness for floaties.  It's hard to keep an eye on all four, even with lots of adults around.  Kira  did pretty well.  But she was still pretty nervous.
Noah HATED it.  He cried and cried.  I finally just sat on the step with him and he played with some bath toys.
Sofie LOVED it.  She just hung out in her tube and held on to her bath toys.

Such a cutie.
Isak was the most adventurous and was getting around the pool pretty well.
Not happy Noah and a happy dad.  It was a fun experience for the kids.  And I'm glad we got to go swimming at least once this summer!
One night I took just Isak and Kira to the library.  The library was hosting an Amazing Race night.
We did little activities at different stations and got a stamp in our passports once we completed a challenge.
We made a boomerang for Australia, a shield for Europe and a then we balanced a basket on our heads for Africa.
I loved being with my older kids.  It was so easy and enjoyable.  They also had legos, so the kids built something at the end.

Here's all of the things we made.
This is how we roll at Costco!
Isak did it!  He earned his money and bought this lego set at Costco.  We were all so proud of him.  It ended up being on sale so he even saved some money!
He built it pretty fast.  It's a monster truck and he loves it.
Sunday pictures...

Of course, Noah did not want to be in the pic.
See Noah can be Happy!
Sofie is so cute and will just sit in the rocking chair with a book for a little while.
Prepping for the visitors we got out the folding table.  The kids thought it would be fun to eat breakfast around the table.  I'm not ready for the babies to be done with the high chairs though...but this was good practice.
Another Sunday...Matching dresses for my girls.
Boys were in purple too.
Noah was actually happy.
Sofie was a pill.
Sad faces.
Happy faces.
And another happy face for Noah!  He was pretty proud of himself for reaching the banister.
Puzzle time.
I took the kids to Costco one day.  Our goal was to buy the lego set for Kira that she had earned money to buy.  Sadly, they sold out!  :(  I felt so bad because she worked hard the past few days to earn just enough to buy it.  While we were inside, it started pouring down rain!  So we ate all the samples around Costco and then bought some ice cream while we waited for it to let up.  Luckily, thanks to Isak, we had one umbrella with us.  It was sprinkling when we got to Costco and Isak asked if we could walk with the umbrella.  I'm glad I said Yes.  It sure came in handy as we dashed back to the car!
Nels is the best griller.  I'm always trying to find recipes for him to try out on the grill.  They always turn out delicious.  This one is a peach turkey burger.  Mmmm!
At the park one evening.  Cute sisters.
Kira likes to dress up her reading space.  She put a blanket over the chair and then read for a while.
Kira is super creative!  She can build legos with instructions, but she loves to just do her own thing.  She'll build a whole city and then play with it.
Frozen go gurt snack time.
Nels bought Isak this Cubs hat.  He loves his hat!  He wears it a lot!
Our 15th Wedding Anniversary was in June!  Nels was so sweet and bought me roses.  I added some daisies from our garden.  The actual day, was not that great.  Isak was sick and threw up all over the carpet.  Yuck!  So thankfully we celebrated the next day.
We splurged and got a babysitter and treated ourselves to some amazing food!!
I ordered the filet mignon and it was perfect.
Nels got the Swedish meatballs.
We ate at Stockholm downtown Geneva.
Then we walked up and down third street.  We ate chocolate fondue at Graham's.
It was wonderful to reconnect and enjoy time together.  I showed Nels the powerpoint presentation I made with lots of pictures from over the years.  We both enjoyed it and talked about our favorite memories.
We went to the Swedish Day Celebration.  We started at the library annual sale.  We didn't buy anything.  But here's a cute picture of Sofie.
Then we watched the Maypole dancing.  Isak, Sofie and I danced in it for a bit.  We ate Swedish fish and took fun pictures with the Swedish flag.

We walked up and down third street.  We tried a fudge sample at the Chocolate Kitchen.

We saw real alpacas.

And we did end buying old books for one of the street vendors...Wizard of Oz and Tom Sawyer for $1/book.  Then we went home for lunch and naps.  Isak and Nels went back and listened to an outdoor guitar concert.  They had a good time.

Sleeping two year old pictures.

Noah boy.

And then they are awake and ready to play.
For Father's Day we got Nels his own lego set!  It's a Star Wars ship.  Isak supervised.  :)
Nels always finds cool cars.  He likes the tire cover on this Jeep.  I do too.  Someday we'll have a Jeep and a cool tire cover too.
I bought the kids flashlights.  A fun toy...as long as it doesn't get shined in your eyes.  The babies were having a little snack.  They looked so cute.  So I took a couple of pics.

I was brave and took the kids on a picnic lunch to a park by myself.  It was an awesome outing.  All of the kids were good and no one got hurt!  Yay!
It was a cute park and close to our house...but we drove to it.

The kids were nice enough to sit on the bench for a minute while a took a pic of them.
Sisters...
Nothing special for lunch.  Just our usual pb and j.

The kids loved to be out though.  I'm really glad we went and it turned out well.
I took all four kids to do the big Costco shopping trip by myself.  Pretty proud of myself. :)  It went okay.  Kira had to go potty twice and Noah was fussy.  But we did it and they enjoyed the vanilla ice cream at the end.

And last pic.  We'll end with Kira and her beautiful drawing of the flamingos.  She is quite the artist!

Other odds and ends...
  • I finished reading Devil in the White City.  Great book about Chicago during the 1893 World Fair.  I learned sooooo much.  Like the ferris wheel was invented by George Washington Ferris for the World Fair in 1893.  Over 700,000 people attended the fair in one day.  That's just two things. :)
  • My big victory for exercising....I did ONE hanging chin up!  I was so proud of myself.  Yay!  Now for two.
  • Nels rode his bike a couple of times.  Good job getting out Nels!

  • Nels got the sprinkler out for the kids so they could run around and get wet.
  • Isak is learning how to dribble a ball.
  • Kira likes to be creative on the swing.  She's a little monkey on it with her tricks.
  • We made Father's day cards for the Grandpa's.  Kira made a cute one for Dad that was a toad and said, "Toad'ally the best dad."
  • Sofie says hug, cupcake, shoe and eat.
  • Noah says stuck, door, shoe and eat.
That's all for June!!
