Pumpkin Patch Oct 2017

We made it to the pumpkin patch the Saturday before Halloween.  It was a nice warm outing.  I dressed the kids in matching clothes.  So fun.

Here's the pictures...

Isak had fun lifting pumpkins with his muscles.
Noah was a happy boy in daddy's arms.
So this first pic is Isak.
This is Sofie...don't they look similar?!
Kira with her pigtails. :)
Sofie loved walking around and was upset whenever we tried to pick her up or put her in the stroller.

I had fun just taking pictures.
Noah boy.
Me walking with the older kids.
The pumpkin pyramid is always a sight to see.
I love this picture.
Sofie is getting tall.
I love Noah's blonde hair.

This year they had a pumpkin blaster.  You put a pumpkin in this cannon and then aim it at the target.
Always fun to see how tall you are.
Little Kira is still about four inches shorter than Isak.

Our selfie.
Another height picture.
We picked out 2 pumpkins for $2.
Then we came home.  I went grocery shopping with Isak.
The kids played...Sofie tried on the firefighters hat.
Noah tried it on too, but he didn't like it.
Sofie tried on the witches hat.
Isak and his green tongue.
Then we went to Red Robin.  It was a 40 minute wait!  So we went to the pet store and looked at birds and fish.  Then we went to DSW and Dicks.  Then we enjoyed our burgers and Nels's free birthday burger.
It was a fun day out and about.

September 2017 Wrap Up

Odds and Ends of September 2017.

My little helpers at dinner time.  Sometimes when they are all right there close together, I look at them in amazement.  These are our children!  All together.  :)
And now nothing is safe...the big kids were able to play on the table without the babies bugging them or stealing their stuff, but not anymore...Sofie has figured out how to climb up on a chair and get whatever she wants!  She is pretty proud of herself.  The big kids are sad.
Matching Sisters.
Matching Brothers.  Go Cougars!
Brought this little table and chairs out that we bought from Ikea back when Isak and Kira were about this age.  Sofie and Noah LOVE it.
Love that cheesy Sofie grin.

Noah holding his little cereal box.
Nels gets a free cool down while mowing the lawn.  See Isak on the playset with a squirt gun?  Haha.
Just chillin' in the stroller.
And then some others wanted to join in the picture. :)
Just reading a book in the morning.
And then playing in a box.
New discovery...the wipe box.  Serious work here.
We went to a park...
Noah all wrapped up in his blanket.  Isn't he a sweetie?
And Isak wanted to hop in the pic too.
I got a subscription to Superhealthykids.com  I wanted to cook some healthier meals and try new recipes.  My goal was/is to help Kira eat better by cooking regular healthy food and a variety of meals.  So almost every night I cook something.  I set up the four kids and feed them at the same time around the table.  In the beginning, I just wanted Kira to try the food.  One bite.  She let me put it on her plate.  For the first four or five times it would take 15-30 minutes to get her to take a bite.  I would taker her to her room.  When she was ready to take one bite then she could come down.  Sometimes she'd come down, start to whine and not want to take the bite-so back upstairs.  Lots of crying.  But since I was offering it to her every night, she knew what to expect.  By the fifth or sixth time she would say she was excited to try her bite so she could grow.  She would take her one bite without fighting!  And no spit outs-that's a rule.  Then instead of just one bite-it was one bite of all the new foods on her plate.  I was thrilled during one meal she asked if she could have more bites!  Yes!  It was this meal pictured below...meat sauce on spaghetti squash.
I always express how proud I am of her.  She is proud of herself too.  I'm also learning new ways to cook and new foods to try.  For example, since it was fall a lot of recipes used fall type foods.  I cooked with butternut squash, spaghetti squash, zucchini, and kale.  We've tried rice noodles and thai recipes.  Some recipes don't taste great, but others are awesome.  It's good for me to try new things too.  It surprised me how much courage it takes, even for me to pick the recipe, cook it, serve it and eat it myself!  Overall, I've enjoyed having this meal plan subscription.

Family selfie.

First time for popsicles.
Fun times...and messy.
Sofie on one end and Kira on the other...sleeping.
In September, all four kids got pink eye.  Isak was the first one that got it.  I noticed it after I picked him up from school one day.  Sure enough all four kids got it.  I took them all to the doctor by myself.  I was pretty proud of myself.  I also gave all four kids eye drops 3-4 times a day for 3-5 days.  Kira also had a cold so she had antibiotics.  It kept me busy all week.  Plus that week I got sick too.  The kids missed a week of school.  It was a rough, long week!

Another visit to the doctor with all four kids happened in September too.  This time it was for the flu shot.  It went pretty well.  The older kids picked the order and Kira informed the nurse who would go first...she said, "Sofie first, then Noah, then me and then Isak."  And that's how it went.

That's all for September.  A trip to Idaho, Nels interviewed in Chicago, outing to the aquarium and lots of sickies in between.
