Ice Cream--The Musical!

One Hot Thusday evening we had a wonderful weekday date.  We doubled with some friends of ours and traveled south to Hernando.  We ate at this little restaurant called Velvet Cream.  No seating, just park your car and order.  There is a drive-thru too.  But what took my breath away was the sign below:  180 Flavors!!!  That's 150 more than Baskin Robbins!  They are different combinations for shakes, malts and slushes.  I made up my own...raspberry oreo.  I don't know why they don't have it on there...it's by far the best!
Here's a few pics:

Nels has his bluetooth in his ear.  Sometimes I think it's attached...just teasin'.
Then we went to a musical!  Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.  It was awesome. There were a few people from our church in the play.  It was fun to watch them perform.

I don't know what to say about this photo...
It was a great night!

I love plays and musicals.  I want to go to New York City and see some on Broadway!  Someday...

Happy Anniversary!

Our 8 year wedding anniversary rolled around and landed on a Tuesday.  So this is what we did to celebrate.  We finally tried Five Guys.
I was ecstatic to learn the potatoes for the day were from Shelly Idaho...just a few miles down the road from where I grew up.
I was so proud of my home state.  I even asked the cashier "Do you give discounts on the fries if I'm from Idaho?"  The cashier knew I was joking because I had already paid for the meal...delayed joke.  Oh well, she laughed and I laughed at my own cleverness...haha.
Ah, it's a dinosaur eating my french fries.  Just kidding, it's Nels being goofy.
Aw, back to normal.
Say, "Idaho Potato French Fry!"  That's a mouthfull...better stick with "Cheese!"
Then we went to the Memphis Temple.

We had a great time.  We just enjoyed being together.  8 years have flown by and we're both glad we made the decision to marry each other for time and all eternity.

Redbirds Baseball Game

A few weeks ago...in June...we went to the Memphis Redbirds game.  We were in the Hilton Suite with
Rendezvous barbeque nachos and ice cream.  Baseball doesn't get better than that!  The game was a little slow at the beginning.  We got behind.  But then we started to make a come back.  We cheered and shouted and we WON!  Hooray!
Here's a few pics.

My Co-worker Nancy took some pictures of us....haha...I was not very good in any of them.
Oops!  Not quite ready....
Scary, intense smile.  Ah!
Aw, forget it...Nancy said, "do something fun!"  Okay...Spaz!  At least we wore the team colors Red and Blue.  I love how Nels is just laughing and probably thinking, "Yep, this is my crazy wife."

I thought the half time show was hilarious!  They had little baby races.  The baby who crawled the fastest to the other end won.  It took a while.  But it was fun to watch the parents encourage their child to crawl.
Redbirds Win!
After the game we enjoyed a fireworks show.

It was a fun evening!

Green Thumb?

I thought I would give gardening a try.  I knew that I did not have enough time to do a huge garden, plus I felt completely overwhelmed about doing one.  But a co-worker mentioned how she gets a few pots and plants tomatoes, herbs, eggplant and other types of food.  I thought that sounded like something I could manage.  So I purchased a pot and a few plants.  So here's my first "garden."

All Green--trying to encourage my green thumb to work. :)

Soil, water, sunlight.  I think we're set.  (Yes, I'm watering in my socks.  I love socks!)
So in this pot there's lavendar, rosemary and basil.  Sadly, the basil shriveled up and died.
The Lavendar and Rosemary are growing quite abundantly.  I believe I will harvest these delightful herbs soon. :)

Memphis Grizzlies

Earlier this year we went to two Memphis Grizzlies games.  We got free tickets both times.  The first tickets, we won from Home Depot.  These were nose bleed tickets.  You can see from the picture below how far up we were.  We still had a good time, but then we were spoiled.  The second game was through Nels's work and we watched the game in the suite.  Yummy food and we could see the action so much better.  We were so close the camera's caught us twice and we were on the big screen for a few short seconds.

International Paper had marketing all over the place!  I captured one of them on the big screen.  Go IP!  I mean Go Grizzlies!

We are dressed in Sweden's colors, yellow and blue.  I think that's Nels's favorite combo of colors.  Grizzlies colors are blue and gold...so we were representing them too, of course!
The actual team colors are: Memphis Midnight Blue, Beale Street Blue, Smoke Blue, Grizzlies Gold, White
Grizzlies won both games.  We like to think that it was because of our amazing cheering that helped spur them on to win so many other games.  haha.  What can I say, we have grandiose imaginations!

Yah for Parents!

So back in April, yes clear back in April...I know it's July.  We had some wonderful visitors.  My parents came one weekend and Nels's parents came another weekend.  We had a blast!  I loved having them here.  We did some fun things while they were here.  Our favorite times were playing games, eating and talking.  Here are some pictures of what we did.
We went to the Gibson guitar factory.  I thought it was neat to learn how they make guitars.  It was hot and loud in the factory.  We could barely hear the tour guide because he used a cup to amplify his voice.  It would have been better if he used a microphone.  But it was still fun to see everything.  Nels loves factories and seeing how things are made.  So he loved it, plus it's guitars.

Nels and my dad. (above)
Nels in front of a fancy guitar. (below)

Me and Nels with guitars...I liked the red one of course.

We went to the top of the Peabody hotel to look over Memphis.  It was a pretty day.  We couldn't have asked for better weather.

Then we ventured down to the famous Beale street.  I thought this restaurant name was fun.  Pig, Pork with an Attitude!

 Guitar Factory
Caught you mom!  :)  My mom loves to take pictures.

We headed over to Germantown and ate the best barbecue at the Commissary.  I'm in love with there sweet potato fries too.  Lightly sprinkled with cinnamon sugar and dipped in a perfect honey mustard.  Mmmmm.
My dad enjoying the ribs. :)
Wonderful parents.
All of our food!!!
This is the outside...nothing fancy, but the food is great!  I'm coming to learn that most barbecue places are in "whole in the wall" type places.  I guess it adds to the ambiance.
We went to the Dixon Gardens.  The tulips were in full bloom.  I loved it!!

Snowballs!

At the gardens, it was kids day, and they had some stilts.  Nels tried to get up on them....he wasn't quite successful.
We did a quick drive by Graceland and Elvis Presley's home.  Nels parked a long the street.  We jumped out and quickly snapped photos of us in front of the famous Graceland Gates.

See between the trees...Elvis's House.
That's all the pictures from when our parents were here.
Moving on...
My boss gave me this beautiful plant for Administrative Professional Day.  It was so fun to get.
Here's me waiting...I can't remember where.  But to pass the time Nels took a picture of me.  Cheese.
