All About School!

We got ready for school!  Lots of crayons, glue sticks, markers and other school supplies.  I took all four kids to Walmart to buy new shoes.  It was a good outing to practice wearing a mask.  The kids were mostly patient as they waited for their turn to pick out a pair of new shoes.  Noah was happy to get light up shoes.  Sofie got paw patrol shoes.  Isak got some nice blue gym shoes.  Kira already had a pair of shoes, but needed a pair of gym shoes.
For primary, we delivered push pops and a tag "This year is going to be SWEET!"

Sofie and Noah's school had a supply drop off day.  So I took all four kids to it.  They did great wearing their masks.  Oh, I bought these masks from Old Navy.  We tried Target, but the kids masks were to big...they fit me nicely though.
Here's Sofie and Noah's new teacher Mrs. Bergland.  I'm so glad Sofie and Noah are in the same room!
The first day of remote learning was August 19.  Isak and Kira wrote about their favorite part of summer and drew pictures.  I love Kira's bike and popsicles.  And Isak drew a great sprinkler!
Isak and Kira are doing hybrid school.  They go to school every other day and do remote learning on the other days.  So the first in person day was August 20.  I asked if they wanted me to drive them to school, but they really wanted to ride the bus.  They were pretty much the only kids on the bus.  So that was nice.  :)

And here's their first day of school outfits.
I thought they looked so cute!!  Cutest 2nd Graders!!!

New backpacks this year.  They picked them out.
Sofie and Noah watched...no school for them yet.

Masks on...
We painted Kira's fingernails too...
And these are the shoes she picked out!!!  Pencil shoes.  ðŸ’›
On August 24 all of the kids had school!
Here's Isak and Kira...
And here's my preschooler Sofie.
Noah and Sofie were so excited to go to school.  The bus won't be picking them up this year.  So I drive them to school and drop them off.  They go two days a week for five hours.

Noah was so silly.  He loves to make us laugh.

Masks on.  They are READY!

And here are their backpacks...

It was a crazy morning getting four kids ready, breakfast, pack lunches, 2 kids to the bus, 2 kids to drive to school.  But by 9:15, I walked into a quiet house.  It was sad/happy.  I really enjoyed my time and started working on projects that I had been saving for chunks of uninterrupted time!

Peck Farms Outing

I took the kids to Peck Farm for a couple of hours on a beautiful sunny day.
We started at the Butterfly House.
We took pictures of these yellow flowers while we waited for our turn.
And here's Kira next to the flowers.

We reviewed the safety guidelines.  Mask, wash hands, 6 feet away, don't touch.

Then we got to go inside.  I love seeing all of the butterflies!  They are so fun and beautiful!
Then we went to the water area of Peck Farms.  Our first time doing it.

Even Noah got in the water for a bit.

Sofie loved it.
Isak was the only one that ran through the actually splash pad.
We ate a picnic while we were there too.  When Noah wasn't in my arms...
He loved climbing this rope thing.  He was SO proud of himself for doing it.
We climbed the four floors in the silo.  Sofie and Noah did great.  I didn't have to carry them this time!  Yay!

I just thought this was pretty...
The kids loved the outing and I'm glad we did it!

August Sundays

Sunday, August 2 -
I did a little object lesson that I found in the Friend magazine.  I poured salt and pepper on a plate.  Then I rubbed a plastic spoon on a towel.  I slowly placed the spoon above the salt and paper.  The pepper stuck to the spoon!  The kids were amazed.  Salt is like the good choices, pepper is the bad choices and the static spoon is like repentance - it takes care of the bad choices we make and leaves the salt.
Then I taught Isak and Kira their primary lesson.  It was about being a good example.  I showed them a video of two boys who leave a silver dollar in a man's boots instead of being mean and hiding the boots.  We can choose to surprise people with kindness instead of being mean.
Sofie and I matched so we took a couple of pictures together.

Sunday, August 9 -
We talked about Captain Moroni and the Title of Liberty.  We made our own "Family Flag."
Kira was so cute carrying around the purse that she made with Grandma Nyborg.
Sunday, August 16 -
We went to church at church this week.  The kids did well wearing their masks.  It was only 45 minutes long.
Lucky me, everyone was nice enough to participate in a family photo after church.

Kira and I kind of matched.  :)
Noah did not want to participate in this one...

I got a good photo of Isak.
Sofie loves her unicorn.
I snuck one of Noah.  Check out that scowl!!!
That's how he feels about photos.
Sweet Kira.
Sunday, August 23 -
I bought a new shirt from Old Navy for $10.   It has zebras on it.  It made me smile.  :)
For church at home, Nels shared a great story about a one armed guy who learned Judo and won a tournament with one move!  It was about turning obstacles into opportunities.  Then I taught the family about a "sure foundation."  The kids built Lincoln log houses on a pillow and one on the wood floor.  Then the storm came...blow dryer and marshmallows.  The house on the pillow fell.  Make sure to build on the rock - our Redeemer.

Then I taught Isak and Kira Helaman 5.  We talked about remembering and the pride cycle.
Sunday, August 30 -
I taught Sofie and Noah the chorus to "Follow the Prophet" as we followed magnets around the house that led to a picture of Jesus.  We did it four times at least.  They loved it.  Then we did a foundation activity from the Friend.  They glued paper rocks for the foundation.  They were so good and loved it!
And that's all of the Sunday's in August.  It takes so much work to get everyone ready.  That's why I try to take pictures on Sunday...to document all of our hard work!  :)
