June Wrap Up

Now to wrap up June.  It was such a whirlwind of a month.  I should note...on June 13th Nels went to work.  Then he called me a little before lunch and said, "Becky, I've been laid off."  I think those are the saddest, hardest words for a dad to say.  We were all shook up about it.  But Nels isn't one to sit around.  He began preparing his resume, reaching out to people and applying to jobs right away.  He worked until the first week in July.  He received two months severance pay and insurance coverage for three months.  The timing was crazy.  Our lease for our townhome ended July 31st.  We did not renew it.  Our landlord would not go month to month, or even extend our lease for two or three months.  She wanted us out on July 31st.  So amidst having twin newborns, job loss, we also had to pack up and go somewhere.  Although it was crazy, I did enjoy having Nels around to help with the sleep deprivation.  Anyways, here's various pictures of our lives in the month of June.

They were either trying to sleep or waking up.  I can't remember.  But they look cozy next to each other.
Sleepy snuggles.
Me and my babies.

I love Kira's little butterfly skirt and shirt.  She just looked cute and I had to take a picture of my 3.5 year old.
Isak "holding" Sofie.
Then Kira wanted to hold Sofie and Isak wanted to hold Noah. Isak wasn't sure about Noah and his toes.  Haha.
But that's okay, but Noah wasn't sure about Isak!
They both twist their heads to the side like that.  So weird.
Feeding the babies is fun to do!
Sleeping Noah.
Sleeping Sofie.  "put your arms up"
They look so peaceful.  I love when they are sleeping.
Nels's mom came and helped us for a week and a half.  She tackled double feeding like a pro.
Nels's dad came at night and took the night shifts so we could catch up on our sleep.
Sleeping twins.  Silly heads.
I love their little yawns.
Kira loves her horses.  This morning picture is of a horsey picnic.
More sleeping.
Noah's shirt says, "I like naps and I like you."
The big kids wanted to hop in and Kira wanted to share her oreo with Sofie.

This is what our house often looked like.  Babies on the floor.  Isak playing in one spot. Kira in another spot.  And toys everywhere.
Just a little Sofie girl.
My hair was driving me nuts.  I didn't have time to fix it and it was getting in my way.  So off with my hair!
Those first few weeks, I just let the babies nap wherever.  I didn't have the energy to put them in their crib all of the time.  So they napped on the floor, in boppies and bouncy seats.
This is her coming home from the hospital outfit.  Just a couple weeks and it's too small for her.
Isak started coloring in the lines and doing a variety of colors.  I was so proud of his careful coloring.
A picnic for the sleeping babies.
Mmmmm.  I love this pic of Noah.
My sister Melissa would hop over and help out.  So glad she lived close to us.  It was such a huge help.

A few pics of the babies awake.  :)
Love Sofie's face in this one.
Cute outfits.

Sleeping Sofie again.
Kira liked the beach chair.
Sleeping Sofie.  The binkies didn't last long.  Neither of my babies will take a binky...unless they use it as a toy.
Oh Noah.  He sure did cry a lot those first couple of months.  Especially at night.  It was a trick to figure out what to do.  I still don't know what we did.  We tried gripe water.  That seemed to help.  I don't know.  He's been a tough one for me to figure out.
Love her little fingers.
It's kind of hard to see, but Isak sticks his tongue out while he's concentrating.  :)
Other news in June:  Anna-Lisa (Nels's youngest sister) had her second baby girl June 15th at 7 a.m.  They named her Lily June Evans 7 lbs 8 oz.

We celebrated out 13th anniversary.  Nels's parents watched all 4 kids.  Nels and I ate at Outback Steakhouse with our gift card and attended the Provo City Center Temple.  It was a beautiful way to celebrate and helped bring us peace as we tried to find employment and take care of our family.

That's all for June!

Sofie and Noah Photo Shoots

I love taking pictures of these little ones.  They change so quickly.  What they are doing one month, they don't do another month.  Sometimes that's a good thing.  haha.  It's fun to watch them grow and learn.  So here's their one month photo shoot.  I caught Sofie in a bad mood.  Poor Noah is a little scared.

It reminds me of Isak and Kira about the same age.  I caught Kira in a bad mood too.  So funny.

Stretching Sofie.
Nervous Noah.
Still not happy.  It was a short photo shoot.
This was a short one too.  These were their "coming home from the hospital" outfits.  But I forgot to take pics of them in the hospital.  So I took some quick photos of them a few weeks later.  I crocheted their hats.  So fun.
Noah wasn't the happy one this time.
Sofie was a lot more relaxed.

It's hard to time things with twins.
Don't they look cozy??
Our Utah landlord gave us these gorgeous quilts.  I decided to take some pictures of the babies on them after church one week.
Sofie was sound asleep.
Aren't the quilts beautiful?!
I moved Sofie all over the place and she just slept and slept.
Love these little babies.
And that's all of the June Photo Shoots of the baby twins.

Kaylie's Wedding

"When you marry in June, you're a bride, all your life."   song from Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.
My niece Kaylie was married to Koy Ash on June 10.  I was thrilled to be able to attend her wedding.  She is my brother's oldest daughter.  It was a beautiful wedding.  Nels's parents helped a ton with the babies and older kids.  There was a dinner one night and Nels's parents watched Isak and Kira so we could attend.  Then his parents came to the temple and helped Nels watch all four kids in the waiting room of the Salt Lake Temple, while I got to attend the wedding ceremony.  It was wonderful.  We then stayed for pictures afterwards.  We were in the large family picture and then Kira was in the flower girl picture.  Oh Kira.  She wouldn't smile.  But I was happy she stood up there with the rest of the girls.  :)
Father of the bride.
Me and Nels.  :)
Oh Isak and Kira.  Isak did not want Kira's dress touching him.  haha.
He was very upset about it.  I forgot how long my hair was and how little Sofie was.
Best pic with the two of them.  Bribed them with fruit snacks.

I love this picture.  She looks angelic.
This is what the babies wore to the dinner the night before.  Aren't they cute little newborns.
After the wedding, we went to my brother's house and ate some yummy food and fed the babies.  Then we all went to Thanksgiving Point for the reception.  Oh it was gorgeous!  So elegant.  Here's the cake.
Kira was pretty much done at this point...
They asked her to hand out chocolates to the people after they went through the reception line.  Oh this face...cracks me up.  She did like giving the chocolate away.  Isak helped too.
There's a smile.
Little girl in a rose garden.
Isak spent some time with Dad.  He was pretty much done too.  The babies were actually awesome.  They spent the time in their car seats.  We only stayed about an hour and then headed home.

We did enjoy the yummy desserts though.

I had little flower girls at my wedding too.  I loved it!  Their sweet pink dresses and beautiful girls.  Kaylie is the one holding the bouquet in the top picture and she is sitting on the right of me in the bottom pic.
And here's Kaylie with her flower girls.  Isn't that so fun?  She was a beautiful bride!
I'm so happy we got to go.  What a wonderful memory.  I also remember being totally exhausted!  haha!
