October Fall Break Outings

The first week of October was fall break.  Nels had month end, so we just stuck around home.  Overall, I really enjoyed my time with the kids.  We did the yum kiwi box that I already posted about and we got the kids flu shots done.  Then we went on a couple of local outings.
On Oct 5 - Wednesday
We went to Oakland Park.  The kids played for a bit on the playground and then we took a walk around the trees.

Sofie was excited to show Kira the Chinese Chestnut tree that we had discovered the last time we were here with just Sofie and Noah.
This is the tree.
And here's the interesting nuts?
Then we went to the Tech center to play and create.

Kira was so excited to play with all of the legos and create her own thing.   Poor Sofie was not feeling the best and coughed and coughed.  I finally said, we have to go.  They were sad and so I promised we'd come back again another time.
On Friday, Oct 7.
Sofie was feeling much better.  So we decided to have an adventure day.   We drove to the Smyrna area and went to three parks!
First up, was the Old Rock School Park.  It's also near the Smyrna library.

After the kids played we checked out their library and then we read the story walk book, "How the Crayons Saved the Unicorn."

Next, we went to the Lee Victory Recreation Park

This park had a lot of favorites for the kids.

Noah did the fire pole.  Yay!

There's also a big jet to look at.

The third park was Freedom Inclusive Playground.  Lots of fun things here too.  Zip line and merry go round.
Kira's friend Myvin and her sister were at the park.  It was fun to see her with her friend.

I had one more crazy idea for our adventure day...but everyone was hungry and thirsty.  So we stopped at a gas station and I spent $17 for chicken tenders, mac and cheese, muffins for Kira and Spiderman popsicles.  Everyone got full and we all felt a lot happier...So we ventured on!
Our last place we explored was Walden Farm's Pumpkin Patch.  Oh what fun!

The kids loved the hay maze and did it several times.

Noah is sad in this picture...I can't remember why, but it happened a few times.  We just tried to love him and move along.

See...Noah is still upset, but that's ok.
The goats!  Kira and Sofie loved these goats.  So fun to watch them.

I loved seeing the big sunflowers too.
Everyone wanted their picture in front of this sign.  If we come here next year, it will be fun to compare.

Picture with the sun in our eyes.  Squinty faces.
We just took pictures holding the pumpkins, but we didn't buy any.

We did spell Noah's name though.  :)
The weather was great for our adventure day.  We just walked around and enjoyed it.  There were lots of people.  We began our adventure at 11 a.m. and ended at 4:30 p.m.  We were all exhausted and just relaxed the rest of the evening.

Oct 8 - Saturday
Nels went with us to a few places.  We went to the library and then to the Tech center again.
Here's the tech center.  It's not huge, but we are usually the only people there and there's a lot of activities for the kids to do.  So we like it.

The kids played at the playground for a little bit afterwards.  I even played some tag with them.
Then we went to the new donut shop, Project Donuts, but they were sold out!  Luckily, Dunkin' Donuts was close by because Noah really wanted a donut.  So we all enjoyed donuts together.

Then we came home and relaxed.  We got Papa Murphy's Pizza for dinner and watched Clifford the movie together.
It was a fun fall break.
