Christmas Eve and Day

We moved Christmas Eve and Day to Friday and Saturday.  Our church starts at 8:30 and it's a 15 minute drive.  We didn't feel like we could enjoy Christmas morning and get ready for church.  So we moved Christmas.  😊  Then church ended up being cancelled late Saturday night, due to a water pipe bursting.  It would have worked out either way.  But we enjoyed celebrating a little early.

So Friday - December 23 - we celebrated Christmas Eve.
We made sugar cookies for Santa.

The kids each opened one gift.
Noah opened up Isak's gift...a gecko bead pet keychain.

We took pics in front of the tree...

Kira opened up Noah's gift...a desk organizer.

Nels read T'was the Night Before Christmas to the kids.

I read Luke 2 to the kids.
Then we put the kids to bed and waited for them to fall asleep...
Then we put the gifts under the tree.

Christmas Day - (actually Dec 24, Saturday)
The kids lined up in the hallway...
Then they opened their gifts.  Here's a few of the gifts they received.
Sofie got a panda ornament.
Isak got $1,000,000!  Whenever I ask Isak what he wants he says "a million dollars."  So I finally gave him a million dollars.  He thought it was funny.
Noah loved his wolf stuffed animal and new cozy blanket.
All of the kids got stuffed animals, blankets and a Christmas tree ornament.
Noah was so happy to get a new claw.  He's old one broke.
Isak was surprised and happy to get a technic lego car set.
The girls got some play dough and nail polish to share.
Here's the two lego sets Isak received.
Sofie was thrilled to get a sewing kit.
Kira liked her unicorn hatchimals.
Noah was excited to build his gear set.
Kira received a lot of unicorn things!  Legos, stuffed animal, hat, shirt, socks, blanket...all unicorns.
Nels loves his custom made Vans shows.  Yes, that's money $$ on his shoes.
Sofie almost cried when she opened up this new panda.
Nels got some Reese's.
They received family games and coloring books and nerf guns and some other things.
They were excited though, to do the last gift.  Nels created a treasure hunt for them with four clues (one for each kid).  Here's Kira reading the first clue.  The clues led them around the house until they finally found...a Nintendo Switch!!  They were so excited to play all things Mario.
Poor Sofie, after opening all of the gifts, said she wasn't feeling well and threw up.  She slept on and off all day.  She received a Panda journal.  Her first journal entry says something like, "This is the worst Christmas ever.  I threw up and I am sick."  😢
Unicorn Kira.
All three are doing their lego sets.  Sofie was sleeping during this time.

Nels gave me my favorite Ferrero Rocher chocolates.
We had pancakes, eggs, bacon and hot chocolate for breakfast.
When Sofie had a little energy, the first thing she wanted to do was the sand art kit.  A gift from Aunt Anna-Lisa.
Grandma Nyborg made each of them these beautiful blankets and they fold into pillows.  We love them and they are used EVERYDAY!
Candlelight Christmas Dinner.  Ham, mac and cheese, sweet potatoes, rolls, and a spinach, blueberry, orange salad.  We made an Oreo cheesecake for dessert.
Sofie loves her stuffed animals.
Nels really enjoyed the hot chocolate I made for him several times.  He finally got to relax for a few hours.  😊
He read his mystery book "Death on the Nile" and was nice and cozy.
Unicorn Kira.
After Christmas...I painted the girls nails.
Isak enjoyed his Discovery gem stone kit.
Kira did her art lesson and drew this beautiful flower.
Isak completed his lego sets.
And we've been enjoying many hours with the Nintendo.  They get along for the most part...It's fun to see them all together.
And that was Christmas...Here's my minimalist decor.
Oh, I did purchase a mat for the front door that plays a Christmas song when you step on it.  It brightened our Christmas season too.

We're thankful for the gifts we gave and the gifts we received.  We are grateful we learned more about Jesus and all that he has given to us.  Merry Christmas!
