All About Halloween

Last year we moved right around Halloween.  Luckily, we were able to go to our ward Trunk or Treat party and after we moved we were able to go to our new ward Trunk or Treat.  But on actual Halloween, we did not go trick or treating.  Isak remembered.  He made sure that I knew that he wanted to go trick or treating a lot this year and he was going to take a pillowcase instead of a little bucket to collect all of the candy!

I hope I met Isak's expectations for this year.  In the end, I felt like I probably went overboard.  We went to four different trick or treating outings!  This post is all about Halloween, costumes, projects and outings.

First up, testing out costumes...we found these astronaut costumes at Costco.  Isak's was a little too small.  Noah thought his was itchy...so we returned them.
Kira tried the unicorn one from Costco...she ended up not liking it either.
So one day, I took the kids costume shopping...we went to Walmart and Target.  They had this fun blow up at Target.  Thankfully, we found everybody a costume that they were happy with.  Yay!
Noah loves worksheets.  Sofie and Noah worked on these Halloween worksheets.
For a Halloween craft, we made ghost pom pom poppers.  There's a balloon at the bottom that you pull on and then the pom poms shoot out of the cup.  The kids had fun with it.

We painted pumpkins...

Here are the end results. Noah painted his blue with a little white.  Kira painted hers blue and pink with a ladybug on it.  Mine is in the middle...I painted mine to be a donut with white frosting and sprinkles.  Sofie made hers to be a panda.  Isak's is a vampire.
Sofie decided on this kitty cat costume.
Kira decided on this unicorn witch.

Photos before our first Halloween outing...

I've loved the trees in our neighborhood.  Red leaves.  All down the middle of the street.
We went to the Fall festival at the Avenues in Murfreesboro.  Nels had to work in Ohio that weekend.  So it was just me and the kids.  They were great and it was a fun outing.
It warmed up though, so the kids ended up taking their jackets off and Noah took his whole costume off because he was too hot.
There were businesses lined up and games to play and candy to collect.
The shops in the avenues gave out candy too.  So we went from shop to shop trick or treating.
It was fun.  I would did it again next year.
Halloween shirts...
Afterwards, the kids set up their candy shops and traded all afternoon.
We also went to the neighborhood gathering.  There was a fun blow up house.

And pumpkin painting.

This was a favorite part that I enjoyed.  I got all of these Halloween books from the library and read them to the kids.  So fun!
Kira and Sofie drew spooky pictures.
Here's Kira with her ghost craft from activity days and her painted pumpkin.
Since Kira was taking a picture, everyone wanted to be in one.  😀
My mom gave me a paper pumpkin with these cute Halloween boxes to make.  We gave them to the kids's teachers with candy inside.
The second Halloween Outing was to the school Boo Bash.  Cute picture with the schools mascot.
This one we can skip next year.  We waited in line for almost an hour and then it was literally  five minutes inside the gym for ten pieces of candy.  And we donated four bags of candy to it!  Crazy.

But the kids did see some of their friends there.
Here's Isak's class all dressed up.  Do you see Isak in his astronaut costume?
I put up pictures of our Halloweens through the years.  The kids loved looking at all of their past costumes.  Now I have it ready for next year.  I'll just have to print one photo from this year to add to it.
The third Halloween Outing was to the church trunk or treat party.  This year we finally decorated our trunk!  I've always wanted to do this mouth ever since I saw it on Pinterest years ago.  I finally did it!  And it was kind of fun to do.  The kids liked that we did it.  :)
The party was on someone's property.  They had a great barn and it was a fun place to be.  The YW did the carnival games.  Here's Kira with Sarah and Sam doing one of the games.
Family photo...
Here's the barn.  Cool, huh?
I took some photos of the kids while we waited for our turn on the hay ride.

Isak was playing football with some other kids and that is why he doesn't have a photo.

There were hot dogs, chips, carrots and cupcakes to eat.
Here we are on the hay ride.  It was fun to be together.
The kids got lots of candy too.  Isak actually went by himself for the trunk or treat part, so he could go fast.  I went with Sofie, Noah and Kira.

Nels dressed up for Halloween for work.  He's a money farmer?
Halloween Day!
The kids had the day off from school.
We made oranges look like pumpkins.
Bananas look like ghosts...I didn't do a very good job, but they were yummy.
Picture of the red leaves again.
Spider sandwiches.

Before we went trick or treating around the neighborhood, I did a photoshoot with the kids.  😀
Here's Spiderman Noah!

We spray painted Sofie and Kira's hair pink.
Unicorn Witch Kira

I think this photo of Sofie and Isak is so funny and cute.

They wanted me to hop in.
Sofie insisted on taking the picture.  :)

Then we met up with our neighbor friends to go trick or treating together.
I loved our neighborhood for trick or treating.  It was great.  The kids got lots of candy.  Isak was determined to fill his pillowcase.  He did pretty well.  We lasted about an hour and a half.  Nels took Isak and Kira out again for a half hour more while I stayed home with Sofie and Noah.  We had Papa Murphy's pizza for dinner.  I think it was a great halloween.  We definitely have a lot of candy and the kids love playing store with their candy.

I think we sufficiently celebrated Halloween!  😁
