Sofie and Noah Arrive in May!

Almost a year has passed!  A lot has happened, to say the least.  :)  Major events:
May 11 - Sofie and Noah arrived healthy and wonderful.
June 10 - We attended my nieces wedding in Salt Lake City.
June 13 - Nels was sadly laid off from his job with Vantage.
August 24 - After Nels accepted a finance controller position with International Paper, we moved to Morgan Hill, California.
October 22 - Nels turned 40!  My sister Kari also visited October 15.
February 1-5 - My sister Melissa and her kids Abi and Tyler visited.
Looking forward to my parents visiting April 5 and the babies birthday's May 11.

So here we go catching up with pictures and journals.  :)

Before the babies came, I tried to take Isak and Kira out as much as I could.  One outing, Nels's mom and sister Anna-Lisa came to Provo and we ate lunch and ice cream together.  I love Kira's butterfly skirt and shirt!
Yummy ice cream.  This was downtown Provo off of Center Street.  We ate lunch at Good Thyme and then ice cream at Rockwell.  We also went to the library.
Kira is happiest at the park climbing ladders and going down the slides.
I believe this is the night before the babies were born.  May 10...
Almost a year ago...looking at this picture I can't believe I did it!  Look at that belly!
Nels definitely did his part in preparing for the babies.  He spent a good while arranging all of the carseats to fit in the van.
For Mother's day Nels bought me beautiful flowers and the most delicious chocolate cake from Costco.  This pregnancy I craved chocolate cake like crazy!  So this was the ultimate chocolate cake. I think it had four layers with delicious frosting!
The weekend before the babies were born my amazing sister Melissa and her husband Karl watched Isak and Kira while Nels and I went on a date!  We ate at Rodigios.  I ate a ton!  It was wonderful to spend time alone with Nels and enjoy doing our favorite thing...eating delicious food and talking.
One thing I really wanted to do before the babies were born...paint my nails.  :)
I literally counted down days, then hours and then minutes until our babies were born.  I was so ready to have these babies.  I made it to 38 weeks, 2 days.  I really, really wanted to have them on May 11th so our kids are exactly 3.5 years apart.  haha.  My parents and sister Jenny came the evening of May 10.  We ate some dessert at Rita's and finished up a few things.  Of course I didn't sleep much.  It was difficult to sleep with my big belly.  So here's what I wrote in my journal...  May 11th...we woke up close to 5:10 a.m.  I read scriptures.  My favorite chapter in Mosiah chapter 24.  Especially vs 14-15.  Submit cheerfully and with patience to all the will of the Lord.  Feeling strengthened by the Lord, we moved forward.  After a quick shower, Nels and I were out the door and left for the hospital.  We arrived at Orem Community Hospital at 6:15 a.m.  The hospital went through a complete computer system change.  Everyone was still learning it and so it took a little longer.  I got my IV in my arm and fluids in my system.
Last pic of me being pregnant.  All prepped and ready to go!
Then around 8 a.m. or so we rolled into the operating room.  The spinal tap numbed me right up.  I only felt nauseous for a bit, but I didn't throw up.  Phew!  Then before I knew it a little cry from baby A -head down- girl arrived at 8:51 .m.  Then a little cry from Baby B - head down- boy arrived 8:52 a.m.  Their cries were so much quieter than Isak and Kira's, I thought something might be wrong!  But thankfully they are just quieter and just fine.  I could see them being weighed and cleaned out of the corner of my eye.  Nels stayed with the babies and took pics for me while I got stitched up.
Noah on the left and Sofie on the right.  Dr. McCarter was our doctor.  When he pulled Noah out he said, "Your sister is going to beat you up!"  Because our little Noah is little - almost one and a half pounds smaller than Sofie.
Noah weighed 5 lbs 8 oz and was 19 inches tall.  Since Noah weighed 2, 495 grams he had to have his blood sugar levels tested before feeding and then every 6 hours for about 48 hours.  He was 5 grams too light.  The cut off was 2500 grams.  And that was the only immediate health issue!  We are still so grateful.  He passed his blood sugar tests.
Sofie weighed 6 lbs 14 oz and was 19.5 inches.  I was thrilled to see her chubby cheeks and double chin.  I also love her little bit of dark brown hair.
Aren't they just sweet!
When we saw our baby boy, we both just knew he was our Noah.  We had been thinking about Levi and couldn't decide.  But thankfully, we both felt like our little boy's name should be Noah Anders Nyborg.
We felt the same way with Sofie.  Sofie Linnea Nyborg.
I wasn't feeling that great.  But oh how I loved holding my babies as soon as they would let me.
A quick picture before we left the operating room.  Then I was wheeled back to our room - 102.  I breastfed both babies (separately).  Sofie just cried for a good hour or more after she was born.  So I fed Noah first.  Then I just held Sofie skin to skin until she calmed down enough to eat.  After that Sofie has been a content, happy baby.  (you can see Sofie's wide open mouth screaming in the picture below)
Noah has a worried look on his face most of the time.  He is becoming more content and peaceful.  I loved breastfeeding them the first time, but was happy to just bottle feed after that.  The babies got cleaned up and returned smelling and looking good.  Sofie has hair- lots of pretty brown hair.  The nurses put a white and purple bow in her hair.  Noah is small all over with a little bit of light brown hair.  I think he looks similar to Kira minus the dimples.

This time in the hospital I made sure to hold the babies as much as possible.  When I was awake I was holding one or both babies.  I'm so glad I took that time to snuggle them because once we were home I just didn't have time anymore.
My parents, Jenny, Nels and Isak and Kira came in the afternoon.
Here's Grandpa holding Noah (his 24th grandchild)

Grandma holding Sofie (23rd grandchild).  My mom stayed in the hospital with me and was the best at making sure I got the care I needed.  She is amazing.   I'm so grateful I had that time with her too!
Isak and Kira were kind of oblivious to what was going on.  As you can see...
We did give them a gift from the babies to them...so they would like the babies.  haha.  Isak got a transformer and Kira got a horse.  Isak and Kira seemed worried about me and sad when I wasn't able to get out of bed and be with them.
More snuggles.

Here's some pics of their stats and beds.

Sofie was just happy to have some more room I think!
I love that she smiles while she's sleeping.
And little worrying Noah.
Me and Noah.

While I held Noah, I could see Sofie too.
Sofie is just a little snuggler.
My sisters Melissa and Mandi came to visit one night and my brother and his wife came another night.  It was nice to have some visitors.  I was pretty sick and my recovery was rough in the hospital.  I was scared to go home because I was in so much pain.  But thankfully, it turned out okay.  Being home was better.  :)
Isak asked to hold Sofie!  I was thrilled.
Noah inspecting Nels.  :)
Kira inspecting Sofie.
It was nice to be home.  My parents and Jenny were so helpful and made our transition home much easier.  Thank you for coming!!  Nels was also amazing during this whole time.  It's such a difficult, amazing experience, with lots of highs and lows.

April Wrap Up

April Wrap Up!

Nels captured this Kira girl grin at the park:
Isak helped build this pattern with blocks.
The kids enjoyed a halloween story being read by Aunt Melissa.
My sisters and I all got pedicures.  It was so fun to go out with just us girls!
I tried a new crockpot recipe.  Orange glazed meatballs.  Super easy and super yummy!
The kids come up with the silliest things.  Laundry basket beds.  :)  They read books and played for a while in them.

I thought it was so cute.  I tried to practice taking better pictures while they were sitting somewhat still.

Isak was pretty proud of himself for putting sand all over his Chase truck and dog.  He wanted to show daddy.  So we took a pic and sent it to daddy.  Thank goodness for technology!
I made these hats for the babies. :)
Kira gave me a kiss.  :)
My parents gave us the Friend magazine for Christmas.  The kids love it.  Their favorite page is the hidden picture...where you find the hidden objects in the picture.
It was a box play day.  Hours of fun play.  :)
Nels bought matching shoes for him and Isak.  So adorable!
Nels's parents threw Michael (Nels's sister Anna-Lisa's husband) a birthday party.  They have friends that have a bowling alley and indoor pool at their house.  So we partied there.  It was the kids first time bowling and they had a blast.  They used the slide and pushed the ball.
Watching the bowlers.  I did not bowl...I felt like I was already carrying a bowling ball around. :)
Their first scores...Isak bowled 108 and Kira bowled 83!!  Nels bowled 89 and his mom beat him with a score of 90.  :)  It was a fun party and the kids loved swimming too.  I even went swimming...I wore one of Nels's swimsuits and a T shirt.  It worked.  I am glad I got to play with them in the pool.
Just relaxing and watching a show.
Melissa helped me tie Kira's quilt and I did the binding so it's all done!  Yay.  The kids love their quilts, so I am glad I made them.  :)
And last project:  These are all the hats I made for the new twins that will be arriving tomorrow.  I hope they fit!
And now I am all caught up, except the few pictures I have taken in May.  I am 38 weeks pregnant today and we are scheduled for a c-section tomorrow morning.  I am nervous and excited!  It might be a while before I get back to blogging again...but when I do...I can promise there will be lots of pictures of babies!
