Growing Up Together

One of the best things about twins is that they always have someone to play with.  It's not uncommon for them to be doing their own thing and then eventually come together.  They always find each other...especially if they are getting into mischief.  Here's a few pictures of them together in September 2013.
Outdoors, their favorite place.
Kira holding up her koala and measuring cup.  Isak checking out the box of diapers we just bought.
Discovering the dishwasher one morning.
Yep, I caught you... :)
Discovering the pantry.  I guess I didn't have them dressed yet.  One of those days.

Playing with their new toys.  Nels had to travel two weeks in a row.  So I bought two toys and gave them a toy a week.
Dave Ramsey fans already!  They found the Dave Ramsey CD's and spent a while flipping through the case.
Love this.  Somehow they climbed into the bouncy seat together.  Kira looks like she is either examining Isak's foot or she's going to eat it.
Aw the toilet.  So fun....I keep the door closed to the bathroom now.
Isak discovered the toilet paper roll too.
The second new toy.  Love how Kira is sitting on the lid.  haha.
Far Mor gave the kids Halloween bibs.  So fun!
I bought these little chairs on clearance since it's the end of the season.  Isak's face cracks me up!
I think they had just eaten, check out Isak's belly.  :)  and of course Kira with her purple shovel and adorable smile.
Once again, I don't know how they do it.  Together in the swing.  It was early in the morning with very little light so the picture isn't the best.
"Sharing."
Ah!  They discovered my cupboard doors open and there's cool stuff inside.
Feeding time with dad is always entertaining to watch.  :)
A rainy day.  Watching the rain one morning.  Love this picture.
Looking at books together.
Watching dad baby proof the cupboards.
I just thought Isak looked so cute with his little socks on and diaper.  hahaha.
These two are so entertaining to watch and I love seeing them interact.

10 Months!

September 11, my mom's birthday and the twins turned 10 months old!
This was actually the first picture I took of Isak!  I had high hopes for the rest of the photo shoot.
We went to the doctor Sept. 10 for their 9 month appointment...a little late, but at least we squeezed it in.
Isak weighed 19 lbs 3 oz. and was 29.25 inches tall.  As the doctor said, Isak is tall and lean.

What else has Isak been up to?  This is from my journal entry Sept. 15.
Isak has excelled at walking along the furniture.  While he is standing next to the couch he will pick up a toy on the floor.  He is all over the place and loves to climb and get into things.  He has had a few goose eggs on his head from falling--scares me every time.  And one time he fell and cut his upper lip.  I freaked out when I went to pick him up and he had a mouth full of blood.  Ewww.
I think people are Isak's favorite toys.  He loves to be around people more than toys.
He still jabbers.  At church he "sang" da da loudly all the way through the song, "Do What is Right."  Kira danced-swayed side to side during the song.

Isak eats and eats.  He loves cheerios, puffs and toast.  We're starting to branch out more.  He doesn't like broccoli, but if it's on his tray he'll eat it.  He enjoys picking things up with his little fingers.

He feeds himself!  I mean he will hold his bottle and feed himself.  Most of the time he does really well.  Sometimes he still needs help.
He still sleeps well and is my 2 hour napper.  Yah!  He's my Big Baby Boy and loves to be held in our arms and watch what we are doing.

He has the cutest laugh that comes out when we start to chase him and say, "I'm going to get you!"

But don't make him mad.  haha.  He gets frustrated the most when there is no food on his tray and he lets us know it too.  He clenches his fists and lets out a grunt and a scream.  We try to remedy the situation as quickly as possible.
He loves to put his head on pillows and blankets when they are around.
He's a sweetheart and I think he loves Kira and Nels and me!
What are you looking at Isak??  Kira was distracting him.
So I let him down to play with her.
Kira Daisy!
Kira weighs 16 lbs. 12 oz. and is 27.5 inches tall.
This is what I wrote about Kira in my journal Sept. 15.
I feel like Kira hit a growth in her development.
First of all, Kira crawls normally now!  I think she did it for the first time Sept. 9.  Now she does it fairly often and is quite proud of herself.  She is also pulling herself into a standing position.  She has learned Isak's trick of crawling to Mom and Dad's legs to be picked up.
She still likes to play with one or two things and she definitely has favorites which include her purple bath toy, silver teaspoon, purple shovel and the blue insert of the bottle.  She LOVES books.  She will sit through books being read to her and she loves to just sit on her own and turn the pages of the books.  She likes to follow Isak, but lots of times Isak will follow her too.
Eating: well, now she likes to be held in my arms to eat.  So Isak is in his bouncy seat feeding himself while I hold Kira and feed her.  And Yes, sometimes Isak gets jealous which then causes a round robin of switching places, going back and forth until everyone is done eating.  I said good bye to quiet feeding times a few weeks ago.

Kira is learning how to eat food slowly.  She will dissolve a puff in her mouth now.  When we try to feed her baby food with a spoon she will sit in her high chair with a closed lip smile and shake her head "no!"  She has mastered how to click her tongue and pop her lips--that's our attempts to get her to open her mouth.  It fails to work 75% of the time.  We hope she improves in this area soon.  (as of today, Oct. 23 Kira has made huge improvements.  Hooray!)
Kira is our 6 am riser and 1 hour nap taker.  Occasionally she will take a 2 hour nap.
Doesn't she have a cute profile?
She says ma ma and ba ba the most.  I love to hear her talk.  She is still sweet and goes with the flow.  She loves when we make her laugh.
 So tall. :)
Together...I could not get a good picture of them together.
This was the best one! haha.
Even Kira would not sit still!
 They were just everywhere.

I was getting so frustrated so I took a picture of the sign because it was behaving!  haha.
 The floor pictures...
I love their faces....are we done? I really hope so.
Oh my precious babies!  We just love you!

Wrap Up for August

Pictures taken in August 2013

Isak figured out how to climb into the laundry basket while I am folding the laundry.  He was so proud of himself.
Oh yeah, just relax Isak.  I like Kira's head peeping over the basket.
And enough relaxing, next step, learn to get out of the basket.
The kids were getting bored with their toys after playing with so many fun toys at their aunt, uncles and grandparents.  So we bought them a new toy.  It's great because they can practice standing next to it.
The box the toy came in was also pretty exciting.
I started to fix their hair.  Kira gets a little pony tail on top and Isak gets his hair spiked.  So fun!
Trying to get them to like their sippy cups.
Kira just thinks it's a toy.  Love that grin.
Isak is not to sure about it. hahaha.
 It might be okay though...
Some evenings after Nels gets home from work, he watches the babies while I cook dinner.  The babies love to be outside.  We feed them their bottles outside sometimes too.  It's a good break from being in the house.
One day our ironing board broke.  Nels and the babies to the rescue.  The babies just had to help and be right where dad was. :)
Aw, a pile of hose, perfect for a boy to play with.  Isak's scrunchy face.
Ah!  My kids are growing up!  Look at them standing there.

You can't see this too well.  But it is a schedule I found when I was unpacking.  It's from December and lists the times we fed each baby, the number of ounces and if they had a wet or poopy diaper.  This paper came in handy with all the helpers and kept us on track to know what to do.
Just two months later in February you can see that they ate less often and a lot more.  Oh, memories.
Not baby related.  We found this huge yellowish spider on our wreath on the front door!  Isn't it scary!!!  Still gives me the shivers.
Not the best picture to end with, but that wraps up our August.
