May 12 - 30 Moments: End of Year Awards, Last Day of School

May 12 - 30 Moments:

Our sweet neighbors love to come and play.  Sofie is happy to play Barbie's with them.
We had a neighbor get together bbq.  It was fun and yummy.  We brought homemade corn bread, mac and cheese and banana pudding.  The neighbor who hosted smoked brisket and had a yummy corn salad.
Here's the crew of 9 kids and about 8 adults.
Kira girl with her new trumpet!
Plus she looks so cute.
I got a visor...now I don't get sunburned on my face when I play pickleball.
Cute Sofie!
A turtle visited our yard!
Having fun with the tent they got for their birthday.
We played pickleball and taught our neighbors how to play too.

The kids had fun playing on the playground.
And they hung out and watched the games too.
Cute Cooper is our neighbors son.
Silly kids.
The next weekend another neighbor invited us over for brisket too!  Haha.  We took baked beans, potato salad and ambrosia salad.  We enjoyed the conversation and the kids loved playing in their game room!!
We love our covered porch so Nels can still grill even when it's pouring down rain!
Cute Kira.
Another visor for my pickleball attire.  :)
We went to Kira's Academic Award Ceremony.
Do you see her?
She made the principal's list, which was straight A's all year!
She was also given the math award for her mini school.

We're so proud of our Kira girl!!

She's a hard worker.  I love how she makes even her homework beautiful.
May 21 - Wednesday
Exactly 11 months ago, Nels was let go from his job at Mahle.  Today Nels accepted a job offer in Spring Hill, TN for a company called Forvia.  It's a 45 minute commute.  This company is similar to Mahle...they make car parts.  Forvia is French owned instead of German owned.  It seems like a better company.  It's not the perfect job, but it will definitely work for now.  We are so grateful for this job.  And Extremely grateful that Nels's friend Clark gave Nels a contract job while he was pursuing job opportunities.  To celebrate and to tell the kids we went to Red Robin!  Yay!
One of the people we play pickleball with brought pickleballs...chips!  Haha.  Dill/pickle flavored round ball chips.
I made it to the temple.

Cute Sofie reading a book...
Noah got into magic for a few days.
Nels gave me a thousand piece puzzle for Mother's Day.  We enjoyed working on it together.
All done with the puzzle.  I thought Nels was so cute and thoughtful to give this to me.  💜
I got to sub in Sofie and Noah's class.  They're so cute.
Sofie volunteered to say the prayer in primary.
We posed like the picture in the puzzle.  :)
Mother's day gifts from Sofie and Noah.

Bear sandwich:
We did a FHE lesson.  Kira taught the lesson on God is our light.  She asked, "How can we have more of God's light in our lives" and then when a person answered they got to light a candle.  We put the candles on a hot dog bun.
Kira also taught us how to draw a light bulb and wrote, "God is my light."  Great lesson!
Isak got into chess for a little bit.  Nels and I both played with him a few times.  Isak got really good, really fast!
Note from Sofie to the tooth fairy Astrid:
"Dear Astrid, the tooth fairy.  I feel uncomfortable losing a lot of teeth at a young age and I don't like when you talk about it in your notes.  Love, Sofie."
So the tooth fairy responded very politely.  "Sofie, Thank you for this tooth!  I love it!  Astrid"
We attended Central Magnet's Academic Award ceremony.  Isak also got on the principal's list for having straight A's!  Yay!

So proud of him and all of his hard work!
May 28th - Cute Kira on her last day of 6th grade

And Isak's last day of school too.

I went to the temple with my friend Allyson.  Great time.
May 29th - Sofie and Noah's last day of 3rd grade!  Yay!

Isak made egg burritos for himself and Nels!  All by himself.

I had a treat ready to go for when Sofie and Noah came home...
And here they are!  All done with school and ready for summer!!

Kira made Sofie and Noah the cutest last day of school surprise gifts.
She also painted this!
We went shopping for swimsuits, shorts, shirts and sandals for the summer.  Watch out...cool kids!  :)
They wanted a picture with the big bear.
Nels surprised the girls with a unicorn slush from Sonic and it came with temperature changing unicorn horn straws.  They loved it!

Kira's young women group made a "Hear me out cake" where they shared things they love and put a picture of it on a stick and put it on a cake.  :)
Lots of fun things in May.  Sofie and Noah's birthday, Nels and I played lots of pickleball together, Nels got a new job, kids finished school.  Yay!  We're ready for summer.
