Door County! July 10

July 10 - Wednesday
We had a nice slow morning.  We set the hammock up outside.  Wow, all of us had fun with it!  Especially, Noah!

The girls spent some time collecting rocks, twigs, leaves and building a house for the squirrels.  :)
They also loved playing on this swing.
Noah liked pushing them on it.

We decided to play pickleball.  We found some courts in Sister Bay, but they were full.  So we went to Ellison Bay Park.  The kids climbed trees, played on the playground and we threw rocks in the water too.

I spelled Noah's name with rocks.  :)

We had a good time and just enjoyed being there together.
Then we went to Seaquist Orchard and played and played.

We spent a long time in the maze. :)

Nels and I played a couple of games of Corn Hole while the kids played nearby in the sandbox.  I won 3 of the 4 games.  😄

Our kids loved digging, burying things and finding the things they buried.  Lots of fun.

Then we went back to the cottage for lunch and rested a bit...
Then we went to Sister Bay Pickleball courts again.  This time there was a court available.
We played with Karen and her son Adrian.  Adrian was super nice and taught Isak top spin.  He played with Isak a lot and it was fun to watch them.
Then we went to Wilson's for ice cream!!
Noah got chocolate, but then decided he doesn't like ice cream anymore...so I ate his ice cream cone.
Sofie got mint chocolate chip.  Isak got strawberry with pop rocks.
Kira got Caramel Collision.

Nels got a cherry flavor and Mackinac Island.

We played at the third playground of the day for a few minutes.

Then we went back to the cottage.  We made tacos and watched Pirates of the Caribbean.
Wonderful Day!

Door County! July 8 & 9, 2024

We packed and left around 10:30 a.m. and headed North to Wisconsin!
On the drive, our family listened to "Out of My Mind."  Great book.  We all enjoyed it.

We stopped for lunch by Columbus, IN.  McAlister's, our favorite.
Noah got all the mac & cheese he could eat!
We arrived in Lafayette, IN around 6ish and checked into our hotel room.
Then we took a mini tour of Lafayette and showed the kids where we lived for two years.  Here's our apartment at Portledge Commons.

Awww, memories...
Then we went to Purdue and showed the kids where Nels went to grad school.  Picture on the stairs at Rawls Hall.
Then we walked around campus.  I love Purdue's campus with the red brick.  It's a pretty college campus.

We went to the engineering fountain.

Flashback to 2006...wow...18 years ago!

We have our family now and it's so fun!
Here's Nels in front of Rawls Hall.
Here's Harry's Chocolate Shop...it's not a real chocolate shop...it's a bar.  But when we were going to school, I was so excited to go in it.  Then sadly learned they just serve beer.  😢
We ate dinner at Chili's.   Then went back to our hotel room.  We decided it smelled terrible.  So we switched rooms from 205 to 207.  So much better.  Phew!

July 9, Tuesday -
We all slept pretty well.  We were up by 7 a.m.  Then we packed and left for the Purdue Bookstore.  Sofie and Noah loved these puppies.  We took a picture so we didn't have to buy them.  😄  Nels bought like 5 Purdue shirts!  He was very happy with them.
Then we finished our drive up to Door County.   We listened to "Out of My Mind" together.  Then I listened to the "Compound Effect" and "Namesake."  We ate lunch at a gas station.  We arrived at Urskogen the Blue Cottage in Ellison Bay, WI at 4ish.

We unloaded the van and made the beds.

Then we went to the Piggly Wiggly for groceries.  We ate dinner at Door County Ice Cream Factory.  Sofie and Noah got grilled cheese.
We also got a large pizza.  It's seriously the best pizza.  Mmmm.
Then we got some ice cream!
Kira - Blue Moon
Isak - Strawberry
Noah - Chocolate
Me and Sofie - A big Waffle cone with mint chocolate chip and death by chocolate.

Then we watched the sunset over the beach near the cottage.  We call it Rock Beach.

The kids loved skipping and throwing rocks.

We were just so grateful to be here, in such a beautiful place.  💜
We eventually got settled in the cottage and went to sleep with the windows open.
