First day of Spring Break. Nels was able to take the whole week off! Yay! We decided to go explore Chattanooga. It's a short 2 hour drive from us. So we left at 10 a.m. and arrived at 12 p.m. We ate lunch at McAlisters. A veteran gave all of our kids a wooden top. He taught them how to spin them 2 ways. The kids loved them and played and played with them while they ate their lunch. We also got a free brookie...a brownie and a cookie together. So delicious.
Then we went to Choo Choo Station and explored for a while. We just walked around and took pictures of the cool things.
The kids and Nels had a jumping contest. They wanted to see who could jump the farthest.
They also played tag for a bit.
There were some murals that we took pictures with.
And the bathroom had this fabulous flamingo wall paper.
We went on the old train too.
Then we figured out the free trolley transportation and hopped on it. We rode it to Coolidge Park.
We all rode the 130 year old restored carousel.
Then we took pictures on the animal sculptures.
Noah really wanted this picture of the girls on the turtle clear on the other side and the boys on the turtle closer to me...
Horsey.
This is Kira's unicorn face...
Elephant!
This is the top of the carousel.
The bridge behind me is the pedestrian bridge that we walked across later.
Here we are on the bridge.
We walked across the Tennessee River.
Then we explored this sculpture garden.
Then we hopped back on the trolly and found our car again.
We went to Red Robin for dinner. All of the kids wanted a picture sitting on the hamburger...
I tried a new burger! The Southern Charm burger.
And Nels tried the Queso burger. We also had the lemonade cake for dessert. Nels and I decided to splurge on restaurants this vacation and get whatever we wanted and it was so fun and yummy! We stayed at the Embassy Suites. We checked out the pool and exercise room before bedtime.
And that concluded our first day!
