April 2023 Outings

We had a couple of outings in April.
First up:
Free day at the Discovery Center.

They loved watching the turtles.

And playing with the boat.
We made clay pinch pots together.

We all made something different with the same items that we had available.  It's fun to see everyone's creativity.

Sofie and Kira colored pictures.
The boys played with the water.

There was a lot to explore and do.

We did some of the Keva block challenges.

This is what the inside looks like.  The kids love that huge tunnel slide.
We ate a quick lunch at home and then headed to Isak's first soccer game.
While Isak practiced before the game, the rest of the kids played on the playground.
Sofie is getting so strong and good at the monkey bars!
Then we watched Isak's game.  It's a terrible picture but Isak is in it.
Nels is the assistant coach.  So that's fun too!
We got everyone a slushy at Sonic and then Nels got a few things at Costco while the kids drank their slushy.

April 28th Friday - I got to go on a field trip with Sofie and Noah's class.  We went to the Barfield Park Wilderness Station.  I really enjoyed it and learned a lot too.

We listened to this guy tell us about snakes, turtles, owls, birds and more.
Here's an Ostrich egg and next to it is the smallest egg from a hummingbird.
Here's a screech owl.
Sofie and Noah were pretty good and it was fun to watch them learn.
We went on a little hike and they talked to us about plants.
Here's their class...
They got to look at things with a magnifying glass and binoculars.

We ate lunch together.
Then they played and played on the playground.  Fun day with these two.
Another Saturday Soccer game.
Playing while we wait for the game to start.
Sofie made a sign "Go Isak Go!"  :)
Then we went to Barnes and Noble.  Why?  Because I was finally buying Sofie and Noah their reward for finishing the 100 reading lessons.  So they each picked out a book.
We all enjoyed looking around the bookstore and finding new books that we can hopefully check out at the library for free.  I forgot how expensive books are!  But I'm glad we bought them these books.  It was so cute to watch both of them immediately reading their books that they get to keep forever.  😄
After the bookstore, we needed to stop at Kroger and replenish our ice cream supply.  Everyone chose a carton.  So we ended up with six.
And those were our outings for April.

Happy Easter!

Here's all about celebrating Easter this year.

Noah helped me put together a puzzle Easter egg hunt.

Then Isak hid the eggs.  Everyone helped find them.  Then Sofie and Kira worked together to put the puzzle together.  Isak and Noah worked together to put the puzzle together.

There were three puzzles of Jesus.  One in Gethsemane, the Cross and the Resurrection.   Then we watched church videos about each event.  I think it helped them to see all that Jesus did for us, even though it was hard to watch.  Some of us closed our eyes during some parts.  I know when I remember all that Jesus has endured for us, it helps me think that maybe I can try a little harder to be better.  It also increased my gratitude for my Savior.
Later we dyed eggs...

Easter Morning...
We gave the kids kites this year.  They enjoyed hunting for the 200 eggs we hid around the house.
We made resurrection rolls again this year.
And they were yummy.
Isak made his name out of candy.
Kira gave me and Nels Easter gifts.  She's a sweetie.
We dressed up and made it to one hour church.  :)

I love the spring outfits I bought for Sofie and Kira.  I think they look adorable!!

I bought myself a spring dress on Amazon.  It has pockets!  And it's super comfortable.  I think I need to buy a jean jacket like my girls!
I made a dessert that I had growing up.  We called it Aunt Anne's Dessert.
It's white cake, cream cheese and whip cream layer, strawberry glaze that covers sliced bananas.
Everyone was excited to try this fancy dessert.
And it brought back sweet memories for me.  I enjoyed my Easter dessert.  :)
The weather was nice, so we went kite flying after dinner.

The wind was only 6-8 mph.

So the kids helped make wind by running a lot.

But we did get the kites up for a few minutes at a time.  :)

It was a nice Easter.
Oh, this wasn't on Easter or before Easter...it was after...
The girls and I played Easter Bingo.  Very fun.
I'm thankful for all we did to make Easter special and tried to learn more about our Savior in different ways.
