February Moments

Moments in February:
About once a month, Nels takes a trip to Kroger to replenish our ice cream.  Lately, the girls have gone with him to help pick out the 4-6 cartons of ice cream.  This time they also got some magic shell unicorn topping.  I think Nels and the girls really enjoy this outing together.
Drop off for school!
Picture books we've been reading...We loved all of these.
I read the kids my favorite winter book.  Snowflake Bentley.  We also read two different versions of The Mitten.  This was fun to do and I loved hearing the kids point out the differences, similarities and what they liked about the books.
25 day reading challenge complete!!!  Hooray.
I love this challenge.  I love how the kids keep track and we reward our efforts every 5 days.   And I can tell a big difference in Noah and Sofie's reading confidence level.  It's just a win win all around!
The rewards were homemade M&M brownies, movie night with popcorn and we combined two rewards and went out for donuts.  The grand prize was eating ice cream at an ice cream shop.  I posted about it in our Nashville outing.  Great job kiddos!
Come Follow Me activities:
Fishing!  Homemade pole with straws, magnet and yarn.
We also ate some Swedish Fish to go with it.  The kids loved this activity and treat.
Puzzle:
Bubble gum activity...Choose (chews) the right.  And we had bubble gum for the treat.
Sunday photo of me...
Funny Sofie...she has Nels's shoe on and thought it was so funny.
Just hanging out and playing 5 seconds with the girls.
Noah colored this all by himself.  Mystery Mosaics have been so great!
I went to the temple in February.  Yay!  I love the changes they made and look forward to going again.
After the temple, I walked around downtown Franklin and ate lunch at Franklin Mercantile Deli.
Cute little place.
I loved the fresh flowers and sandwich...I didn't like the potato salad very much.
Kira's class won two trophies.  I think it was for attendance and behaving well in the cafeteria.  :)
We made cookies and I made them big.  I called them big honkin' cookies.  And it was so cute how the kids copied me.  We all loved my big honkin' cookies.
Bike ride in the cold.  We went for a good mile when suddenly Noah's training wheel fell off and Noah took a tumble!  So sad.  Nels came with the car and later fixed his training wheel.  Hopefully, it doesn't happen again!
Sofie cleaned her room and she just loves all of her stuffed animals.
Sunday morning.  Kids colored and I journaled.  It really didn't last long...maybe 15 minutes.  But it was very nice while it lasted.

Sunday photo of my girls in their matching dresses and three unicorns.
Here's Nels looking good while practicing his guitar.
My parents sent this photo of a rainbow and the sun in wintry Idaho.  They always look for the good.
Scripture time while coloring.
Painting...

I got a sad picture of Sofie.  Melts your heart, right?!
Creative kids...trying to create a basketball...
I love Walmart Delivery.  I open the door and there's all of my groceries.  It's delightful.  The kids help me carry the bags in and put the food away.
This photo isn't the best but I like how Sofie and Noah are doing stickers and writing together.
My mom sent us a fun paper pumpkin!!  We walked to the mailbox just so we could get it.   Instead of waiting for Nels to get the mail on his way home from work.
Isak got a new suit.  He sure is handsome!

The kids had a day off in February for President's day.  It was chilly, but we needed to get outside for a bit.  So we practiced dribbling and passing the basketball.
Sofie and Kira water "colored" the driveway.
It was fun to get out for a bit.
That's my girl.  Sofie's making sure she gets all of the chocolate ice cream!
Secret math.  :)
We played the world game.  It was pretty fun.  I love learning about the world.
Here's Sofie Panda Roo coming down the stairs with her panda diary.  💜
Our family did a thousand piece puzzle.  It wouldn't be winter without doing a large puzzle, right?!  Nels and Isak mostly did the puzzle.
Kira and her mosaic coloring...it's a mermaid tail.
Snuggles with Kira.  She stayed home sick so I got lots of snuggles with her.
Isak stayed home sick for two days.  On the second day, he was well enough to join me and Nels on our lunch date.  We tried out a new Mexican place, Camino Real.
Isak ordered a burrito, sadly it was too spicy for him.  So Nels switched him with his milder chimichanga.
I had a delicious fajita salad.
The kids were invited to the neighbors birthday party.  They are boy/girl twins and the same age as Sofie and Noah.  I thought it would be fun/funny to arrive with hats and bday glasses.

Here's Noah with Dominic...they are the same age.  Great friends, even though there is a big height difference.  Dominic will sometimes carry Noah around.  Haha.
Here's the group eating cupcakes.
My boys on their bunkbed.
Nels and Isak made a yummy apple pancake and sausage breakfast one Sunday morning.  I love our new Sunday breakfast tradition.
The girls and I got ready fast so we could make our Stampin' Up cards.
And here we are walking from the parking lot to church.
Poor Noah, woke up in the night crying because his ear hurt so bad.  I took him to the doctor and he had an ear infection.  While we waited for the doctor, Noah worked on his 2nd grad Math workbook.  He looks so cute.
After the doctor, I made him lunch.  He asked me to hold him while he ate.
Then I read him a book or two and he fell asleep.  Poor guy.  I loved the extra snuggles though!

And that's how February ended.
I took three kids, three different times for three different things to three different doctors this month!  Our fridge was a rotation of amoxicillin.  A month later, we're mostly all better.

One day I wrote in my planner a few things that I like about our kids in this moment of time.
I like Isak's red tie shoes.  I like Kira's unicorn leggings and all of her unicorn stuff.  I like Sofie's panda hat and all of her panda stuff.  I like how Noah puts his hands in his pants pockets.

This month, personal goals I worked on:
I practiced guitar more and finished level 2 on the Fender Play App.  I finished and ordered the 2022 Photo book.  Yay!  We did our year home warranty inspection.  And I enjoyed reading Elona Holmes book one, Bear And Nightingale, The Boy Who Biked the World - On the Road to Africa and Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.

We enjoyed Valentine's day and slow winter evenings and weekends.  We did not adventure too much this month.  Just stayed warm inside.

Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!  I enjoyed my minimal mantel decor for the month.
The kids packed all 80 valentine's for their classes and enjoyed getting and giving valentine's at school.  Here's Isak's class...
Nels surprised me with a chocolate cake from Costco!  Yum!
For the kids, I gave them each a bag of candy and a balloon.  Also, sugar cookies.
They liked them.  Yay!
Cuties!
And my boys...
💙
Kira and Sofie both made darling valentine's for everyone.  Kira made lots of cards and origami.  Sofie made everyone a paper picture frame and a heart Perler bead necklace.
Nels wrote each of the kids a thoughtful love note.
Noah colored this puppy for Isak.  :)
Here's some of Kira's origami with Nels's notes.
Here's a picture of Sofie's perler bead heart necklace and picture frame.  She made one of each for each person in our family.  She asked me to print the pictures and iron the beads...she did the rest!

We opened the valentine's while Nels was at work.  So I sent Nels a picture of the kids holding his notes.
We had dinner and lit a candle for it too.  We read a Valentine book together.  It was a lovely day.

Nashville Outing

We decided to tour Nashville for a bit on a Saturday in February.  Our first stop was the Grand Ole Opry House.  We walked around and took pictures...

The kids completed the 25 Day Reading Challenge so their reward was ICE CREAM.  We found a place downtown Nashville called Mike's Ice Cream.

See the kids through the window?

The boys shared three different flavors!  Nutter butter, banana pudding, maple walnut blondie.
Noah got vanilla.

Kira ate her salted caramel ice cream quick!
Sofie got orange sherbet.
I got chocolate raspberry truffle.
Then we went to Gibson Guitar.

Perfect guitar for Kira!
Nels enjoyed showing the kids all of the different guitars.
See the red guitars under the Gibson sign?  The guitars are on a track that revolve around the whole store.  We liked watching it and all of the different colors of guitars.
The kids liked showing Nels their skills on the ukulele that they learned at school.

And we thought theses itty bitty guitars were so cute...they are Christmas ornaments.  :)

I wanted to check out some of the murals.  We drove by two and stopped to take photos at this one.

There was construction next to it so it was awkward to get a good photo since we couldn't step far enough back.

We tried to make the most of it...but we miss Chicago.  😢
