Provo Canyon - Nunn's Park

I read the book The Diary of Anne Frank in March.  One of her entries talks about how much she missed nature.  Feeling the sun on her face, not having a roof over her head, just being outside.  After reading that, I was determined to take our family out in nature!  We have so much of it here in Utah and we live close to some beautiful spots.  So the weekend after reading that part of the book we went to Provo Canyon.  The drive was beautiful.  We found the perfect little park to play in and a river for the kids to throw rocks in and explore.  It was a little chilly, but we enjoyed being outside.

And the kids were thrilled to play on a playground again.
They grinned the whole time.

We brought Isak's dump truck and he filled it up and dumped it out over and over again.
Kira just wanted to climb the steps and go down the slide.  That's my 28.5 week belly.
Here's a view of the park.
Dump trucks +
Slides = happy children.
We threw rocks for a while.
And took a selfie.  It was all fun and good, but we did have a sad incident.  A boy grabbed a handful of rocks and threw them up in the air.  One of the rocks hit Nels's sunglasses that he just bought 4 days before!  It put a damper on the outing.  We left shortly after.
The dad of the rock throwing boy, took this picture of us before the rock incident.
Overall, I am glad we got out and did something in nature.  Can't wait for warmer weather!!

February Wrap Up

Winter February Days spent many days indoors...Gratefully, the kids went through a coloring phase.  They spent a lot of time just coloring every day.  Isak was so sweet and would just want to sit next to me on the couch and color...
We worked on letters...we only made it through A.  haha.
They are pretty focused when they color.
They color with crayons, colored pencils and occasionally markers.
Kira will color with markers for a little while and then she has to put all of the lids on her fingers.
One day Kira just fell asleep sitting up.  For some reason she loves to sit in between the two seats of the couch.  Isn't that strange?!
I got tired of them fighting over which green ball was theirs.  They would cry over the balls...they are the same ball...but not, apparently.  So initials on the balls solved that problem!
Zoning out to a show.  I just thought they looked cute.
My sister had her twins on January 29th!  We came down with colds when they were born so we had to wait until we were all better to go visit them.  We made it up there February 9th.  Oh my!  They were soooooo cuddly and wonderful.  I instantly fell in love with them.  They are definitely keepers! :)
My mom made this little collage of pictures.  It was such an enjoyable day.
February 14th was on a Sunday.  So we surprised daddy at work on the Friday before with sugar cookies, pictures the kids had colored and a balloon.  Nels even let us stay for a bit and eat the cookies with him.  The kids loved it!
This pic was taken just three days before 26 weeks.

We went to the Museum of Art at BYU.  We tried to get into the Norman Rockwell exhibit, but the tickets were sold out and the wait list was about 2 hours long.  We just walked around and enjoyed the other exhibits and then left.  It was a short outing but still fun.

Shopping at Home Depot one Saturday.  Love their carts!
One day we went to Cold Stone...because I had a coupon.  We forgot how much our kids like ice cream too!  They stole our ice cream and we had to sneak in spoonfuls for ourselves.  haha.  Lesson learned...they need their own ice cream!
All gone. And proud of it!
Just hanging out in the laundry basket of toys, looking at a balloon after church.  Unwind time.
Stake Conference...My boys were sleepy.
Provo City Center Temple.  We made it to the open house.  It was so neat to walk through and have the kids see the temple.
Now when the kids see this temple, they say, "We walked through the temple!"

The inside of the temple is beautiful and the grounds are gorgeous as well.

And that's February!

Sledding in Springville

A week in February, it snowed a lot.  It was so cute to watch Isak and Kira watch the snow falling from the window.  They spent a good half hour just watching it snow.

So we were pretty excited when the sun was shining on Saturday so we could go sledding.  We  thought a place in Springville was open for sledding and cross country skiing.  Apparently we did not do our research very well, because the location closed back in December.  We were sad when we arrived and it was closed.   Luckily, it was a pretty drive and there was a nice sledding hill right outside the park.

Here's the pictures of our sledding adventure:

Three year olds all bundled up and ready for action.

It was cute watching them slowly go up the hill.

And then zoom down the hill.
I liked this picture.  :)

The one who didn't go down the hill with dad, got to sit and wait with me...and take a few pictures.
I couldn't find my headband, thankfully Nels had an extra hat.
Pretty mountains all around us.
Nels waiting in the sled for one of the twins to come ride with him.

Kira waiting with me.
I'm not sure who started it, but we had a spontaneous snowball fight.  It was so fun and the kids laughed and laughed as they attacked their Dad.  I helped supply the snowballs, so they rarely threw one my way. :)

And then it was time to go.  The kids decided to crawl up the hill instead of walk.
Aren't they cute kiddos??
It was a fun afternoon in the sun and snow.
