This was a BIG birthday! 1-0! Or as Ramona Quimby says, "Zero teen!"
We're so grateful for Isak and Kira. We're happy they came to our family. I celebrated being a Mom for 10 years too. 😊
Here's all about their birthdays and their very first birthday parties.
I put streamers up on their doors. They loved it! Sofie and Noah begged for it to be on their door too. So they had streamers too.
Balloon garlands and presents are all set up for their birthdays. This photo is from the night before. They had to go to school, but we opened presents before they left for the day. Isak was lucky; he had pajama day for his class at school.
Here's Sweet Kira. I got as many unicorn things as possible. :)
What's in this box?
This is the coolest box ever. Absurdly Awesome as the box says.
It's a Big Joe bean bag chair. She loves it.
She also got the horse lego set that she wanted.
Isak likes his bean bag chair too.
Cards and Money from G&G Swensen.
A beautiful mechanical pencil for Kira and a tough Sherlock Holmes puzzle for Isak from G&G Nyborg.
Aunt Melissa sent cute cards too.
Kira was very happy with all of her gifts. She received the Big Joe rainbow chair, unicorn origami book, origami paper, unicorn headband, a unicorn sweatshirt, unicorn sleeping bag and a horse lego set.
A gift for Isak and Kira to share was a world map puzzle with flags of the different countries.
Sofie and Noah each got a perler bead kit for their half birthdays.
Kira and Isak took cupcakes to their classes.
Isak received a bean bag chair, rollerblades and all the pads, a codebreaking book, sweatshirt, robot to build.

He practiced in the house for a while then went outside. He fell on his bottom pretty hard. In case he fell again, he put his stuffed animal on his bottom for padding. Haha. You can see the tail of his stuffed animal hanging out.
For all of the kids, we got the game Bonkers.
We had pork tacos and quesadillas for dinner.
Kira wanted a chocolate unicorn cake...I did my best. But the frosting for the flowers was NOT cooperating. It got too warm and would not form at all. I was pretty frustrated. Kira was so sweet and said it was the best cake ever.
I'm glad she was ok with it.
Isak wanted a strawberry cheesecake.
A sad thing, I was taking a video of them and didn't realize my phone was out of storage so it never saved the video!!! At least I got the photos though.
I put up photos from birth to 10. We all loved seeing them grow up...
We did two parties in one day! It was a busy Saturday. Isak's party was first from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. He was SO excited. He invited five friends. One couldn't come, but a twin brother of his friend came...so we still ended up with five kids.

We did an escape room. I found it on Etsy and printed off the clues and puzzles. It was to find Blackbeard's Treasure. There were 12 clues and each clue unlocked a new clue that was in an envelope. Pictures were on the wall and on the floor.
Little numbers are hidden in the picture below and a clue gave them a hint of where to look for the numbers.
Here's the candy treasure that they found at the end.
Isak really wanted a "laser" obstacle course that didn't have to do with the escape room, but was a lot of fun for these boys to do.
They did pretty well working together and solving the clues/puzzles.
Towards the end, the boys needed to get some energy out and had an impromptu tackling match. Isak later commented that those few minutes were awesome.

We fed them lunch...hot dogs and grilled cheese and chips. The boys commented "these are the best grilled cheese sandwiches!" Nels made them, so he was pretty proud. We also did Root Beer Floats and cupcakes.
Left to right
Victor then Daniel is in front of him...they are the twin brothers, then Mason, Isak, Anirudh and Brycen.
Anrirudh is Isak's friend from Overall Creek last year.
Sport cupcakes.
The last thing we did was went out in the cold. We put mentos in diet coke for an explosion. The boys had fun with that. And that was the end. We gave goody bags with a pen with "invisible" ink and a uv light to see the ink, a notebook, glow sticks and candy. His friends were great and they all got along well. I think Isak had a lot of fun.
Here's Isak's invitation...
She was so excited.
We painted unicorn or narwhal nightlights.
Kira invited five friends and four came, plus Sofie. Kira was very kind and let Sofie join in and do everything. Isak and Noah played a game for a while and left the girls alone....but after the painting, the boys participated too. Thankfully, Kira seemed ok with it.

We cleaned up Isak's party and prepared for Kira's. Pink tablecloths and unicorn plates. For her goody bag we did a pen with a pom pom on top, notebook, nail polish, glow sticks and candy.

Sammy, Myvin, Sofie, Lydia, Kira, Georgie.
They were all so excited to give their gifts to her.
Each gift was so cute and thoughtful. Kira was very happy.

Then we served them food. Grilled cheese and hot dogs, chips and pink lemonade.
Chocolate cupcakes with unicorn horns.
Happy Kira.
After the girls ate, they got the glow sticks out of their goody bags and we had a dance party. Isak showed off his dance moves to impress the girls. :) Then we played Charades while we waited for parents to pick up. I think she enjoyed her party.

Then they went on a unicorn adventure...It's kind of hard to see, but I put 10 puzzles/games up around the room for them to do.
I think they had fun doing it. They found a bag of rainbow marshmallows at the end as the prize.

And that's it! Birthday and parties done!
A little about each of them at age 10.
Isak - Considerate, thoughtful, smart, quick to try, quick to learn. He read all of the Harry Potter books in about four months! And we watched all of the movies together as he finished reading the books. I loved that time with him. He loves math, brainteasers, puzzles, pretty much anything with an element of difficulty. He's a great swimmer. He played soccer and loves football at recess. He plays piano. He will be super focused on something for a while and then he won't do it again for a while. For example, piano - he'll play and play and then won't for a few weeks. He's so fun to watch learn and grow. He prays every night and wants to choose the right and do well. I really enjoy being with him. He's uplifting and patient.
Kira - So sweet, magical, creative, helpful, smart! She improved so much in swimming. She swims with her head under water now! Yay! She draws and writes and plays. Her new skill she learned and loves is origami. She has over a hundred folded objects. She's folded unicorns, houses, pianos, hearts, stars, flowers, boats, frogs, different boxes and so much more! I love watching her figure out how to fold and make it just right. I also like discovering folded origami as little gifts she likes to leave for me in different spots of the house. She loves legos and building her own things. She loves to play with and teach Sofie and Noah (when he's nice :)). She's generally a happy, kind girl. She can play songs by ear on the piano!! She loves to sing. She LOVES unicorns. She is just fun and sweet. I love being with her too.
