Waterfall Adventure Day

Also on my summer bucket list, was to hike to waterfalls.  Plural.  So we hiked to two waterfalls in one day.  Oh, what an adventure!  We drove to Tullhoma, TN on August 2.  Tullhoma is about one hour south of our house.  We listened to Ramona's World on our drive.

We hiked about 20 minutes to get to Machine Falls.

Here's Machine Falls:
The kids enjoyed climbing up the rocks and getting in the water.  Although the water was a bit cold!

I like this photo of Noah looking up to see Kira way up high.
Kira was pretty adventurous and climbed all over and up high.
Isak tried to be in the water as much as possible.

I was proud of myself for doing this trip on my own.  Poor Nels had to work.  But he was glad I went exploring without him.

To get to and from the falls we had to navigate this rocky, watery stream.  The kids loved the challenge.  I'm just grateful Kira had prayed for our safety in our family prayer before we left!
We hiked back to our car and drove six minutes to Rutledge Falls.  We were SO thankful there were three clean port a potties in the parking lot!  We ate some snacks.  Then we explored Rutledge Falls.

Here's the falls from up high....then we hiked down to it.
The kids loved walking through water that was 3-4 inches deep.
We would walk along for thirty feet or so then it drop down to a little waterfall.  Then continue for another thirty feet and we were at the top of the big waterfall.  So this is a photo of a little waterfall.
So we hiked to the top of the big waterfall...then we backtracked and found a trail that went to the bottom of the waterfall.
This was the "trail" that got you to the bottom of the waterfall...Ah!  It was tricky.
But we did it.
The water was chilly.  The kids got in it for a bit.  Fun Fact...this is the waterfall filmed in the Hannah Montana movie.  😀
See Kira in the background close to the waterfall...
We all got close to the waterfall...

Then we walked in and along the stream.
Glad I had some good sandals...
We made it safely back to our car.  Then we went to Dairy Queen for some food.  Isak got a burger and a caramel cheesecake blizzard.
Noah got a vanilla ice cream cone.
Kira got an ice cream sundae with hot fudge.  Sofie and I shared a chocolate brownie blizzard.
What a day!  I'm so glad we did it.  Here are the two falls...Which one do you like more?

And that was the last thing we did on my summer bucket list.  😁
